"He vanished..." Naruto mumbled, and shortly thereafter Sakura mumbled out a stressed "Sensei"

"He'll come after me first." Kakashi-sensei announced, stepping forward, in front of our formation.

"But, who is he?" Sakura questioned, I stole a glance her way to see her eyebrows knitted together worriedly.

"Zabuza momochi, the ex leader of the hidden mist assassination unit. He's a master of the silent killing technique." kakashi-sensei stated, not bothering to sugar coat anything.

"S-silent?" Naruto stuttered out. I gulped quietly, staring down at the kunai shaking unsteadily in my sweaty palm. Of course naruto gets caught up on the silent part, I'm more focused on the killing bit in that sentence.

Just a few hours ago I saw my younger sister kill for the first time, and that was unlike anything I had ever seen before, but to be the one who could be killed instead? That's a whole different feeling entirely.

"As the name suggests, it happens silently. With no warning that its even coming" I jumped as I suddenly heard Akaris voice in between me and naruto. I looked over just in time to see her smirk before jumping away from our group and back into the mist.

"Stay on guard little genin, or you will be sorry." She teased softly, and I could hear the amusement clear as day in her voice. This mission was showing me sides of her that I never even knew existed.

Almost simultaneously us genin let out a shaky breath that I hadn't even noticed we had been collectively holding.

"Well, if we fail we only lose our lives." Kakashi-sensei decided to nonchalantly throw in, like that was supposed to make us feel any better.

"How can you say that?" Sakura huffed, glaring slightly up at our teacher, who just stood silently.

After a little while the mist became so thick that we couldn't even see him anymore. Causing sakura to panic almost instantly, and everyone else to soon after. I took a deep breath and heightened my guard, trying to listen for any noise other than my pounding heartbeat.

"Eight points... " I heard zabuza's deep voice growl out though I couldn't even see him to pinpoint from where it was coming from. "Larynx, spine, lungs, liver, jugular, subclavian artery, kidneys, heart. Now... Which will be my kill point?"

Hearing that made my heart basically stop, I felt my stomach drop. Suddenly I felt a blast of chakra and watched as the mist seemed to be blown away, revealing kakashi-sensei to be the cause.

I looked up to see Sasuke start to bring his kunai up, he was shaking more than I was. In a flash Akari appeared, grabbing his hands before they could move any further and seconds later kakashi-sensei's voice rang out, "Sasuke!"

"Calm down! I'll protect you with my life. All of you.I will not allow my comrades to die" He stated, matter of factly before looking back at us with a close eyed smile. "Trust me."

"I wouldn't be so sure." Zabuza mumbled threateningly before suddenly appearing in the middle of our formation, in front of Tazuna. "It's over!"

In what seemed like a blink of an eye kakashi-sensei jumped in between us and pushed us all out of the way. The sound of something spilling filled my ears when I regained my senses and I looked up to see my sister was gone and kakashi-sensei had stabbed zabuza, who appeared to be leaking water?

"Sensei! Behind you!" Naruto yelled out, pointing toward the second zabuza who just appeared behind kakashi-sensei.

"Die!" Zabuza yelled as his clone drained away and he slashed through sensei. I was just about to panic when I saw water flying through the air instead of blood, and zabuza looked just as surprised as I felt.

"Don't move." Kakashi-sensei demanded, putting a kunai to zabuza's neck from behind. "Now it's over."
