It was finally closing in on the mark where kids can put up their countdowns without feeling too depressed by how many days were left. Classes were just a mix of excitement and chatter about everyones' plans for the summer. Tyler was ecstatic for an entirely different reason and it was bumming me out. It was like he was a child trying to pretend that Santa Claus was still real. He covered everything for his dad, even though his dad would throw him under the bus at the first sign of trouble.Tyler told me during his drunk discussion about the fucked up shit in his life. Once his dad went along with the accusation that he said a cuss word in fourth grade. The accusation came from a well known liar at his elementary school, and even thought Tyler denied it repeatedly, his dad made him eat an entire bar of soap. Tyler told me that he couldn't stop vomiting for the entire week. His dad covered it up with the fact that he must have gotten food poisoning at a restaurant they had eaten at prior to the soap incident, and even called in to complain to the restaurant. Tyler told me that his dad got compensation. Before he told me what it was, he began sobering up and cut off the conversation.
Tyler had expressed to me deep concern over what his dad was capable of. It seemed like fear was something that his dad craved. He was one of the terrifying lawyers that makes the defendant take the plea deal even if they aren't actually guilty. He didn't want to be known as a lawyer who couldn't close. His intimidation and his cold hard glare caused even the biggest bad asses to piss their pants.
I had planned on studying to try and end the year with not shit grades, but that would call for effort. My mind was so exhausted from everything going on, and I wasn't even sure if I would go for the two weeks before the finals. My mom was now on me more to do my work but in a passive way. It was like an argument between middle schoolers who threatened to get their moms involved, but broke under the pressure of possibly losing a friend.
It was understandable that Tyler would look past all the shit that his dad pulled, but it didn't make it any less frustrating to watch him love the man that couldn't care less about him. Dave,Dave,Dave,Dave, you really fucked up. I wasn't even sure if he knew that he fucked up. If he didn't then it made him worse than he already was. I was sure he and my dad would get along well.
One thing that went well for Tyler was that Anne and Elizabeth had moved on from their game of Twister. I mentioned that to Tyler and he didn't appreciate it. The more I said it though, he eventually cracked a smile. He kinda regretted it but I knew that that was one thing he was happy that he got to experience. I never thought about what I would get to experience, but a threesome was far from my mind. My first kiss was a big enough deal and caused enough problems, I couldn't even imagine what a threesome would cause. Probably a world war.
Teachers gave us study guides to work on for their class and it was all foreign. Some students knew what it was talking about, but most kids couldn't even get past the first question. I looked it up on Quizlet, and found the entire study guide. Other kids copied mine and we finished within the first thirty minutes of class. I didn't gain any knowledge from filling it in. Each class was the same. We were clueless, we looked it up, and then copied each-other's work that was copied from online. It was hard to copy a couple of the dudes' work because their handwriting looked like a blind baby wrote it. I was left handed but still had the ability to write chicken scratch that was at least legible.
The teachers in a couple classes collected the study guides which made no sense. Wouldn't they want to let us keep them and so we could IDK study from them?! The teacher that had a lot of shit going on with her husband and mother finally finalized her divorce. Apparently the last straw was him killing her pet hamster while she was out of town. All these shitty husbands. I hoped that mine, if I married a guy, would at least save the pet and just kill me instead.
