I Won't Make You Stay

Godzilla was getting impatient, the humans had eaten, watched what they called a 'monster' movie, and still hadn't gone to sleep. The monsters in the movie weren't even scary, some of them drank people's blood and some of them turned into weird wolf creatures. Then they fought each other and occasionally complained about their problems, it was annoying.

By the time it was done he felt like gouging out his own eyes, which he could easily do if he really wanted to. The nicer human, whom was called Robin apparently, told him there weren't any spare rooms 'fit for life' at the moment. He didn't understand that since he could withstand far more then humans but didn't care either way.

Eventually the first human left to sleep, Kid Flash, and one by one the others did the same until Robin was the only one left. The two were quiet for a bit until Robin spoke, "Look, I'm sorry today's been so hard for you. The others haven't exactly made it any better but they'll come around, they always do."

Godzilla huffed, "I don't care if they do or not, I don't concern myself with humans."

Robin looked away from a second, "Then why did you concern yourself with me?"

Godzilla paused for a second, "What?"

"Back in the Watchtower when the League was going to attack you, you made sure I wasn't in the line of fire."

Godzilla was quiet for a few seconds, he wasn't even entirely sure why he did that either, so what was he supposed to say? He spoke slowly when he answered, "Instincts are a strange thing and are very hard to ignore. I was acting more on instincts then anything at the time, you weren't trying to hurt me, my instincts made me want to make sure you weren't hurt."

Robin looked confused, "That is kind of weird."

Godzilla just shrugged and two were quiet for a few minutes until Robin got up, "I guess I should go to bed, see you tomorrow."

Godzilla just growled slightly in acknowledgement and Robin went to his room, now he just had to wait to make sure they were asleep. He just wasn't sure how long it took humans to fall asleep, he didn't need to sleep a lot and fell asleep fairly easily. He waited, and waited, and waited until he couldn't sit still any longer, he got up and started looking for a way out.

He followed the smell of salt water and tried to figure out where the smell was strongest, he eventually came to a door. It was metal, a normal person probably wouldn't have been able to get it open, but he wasn't normal. Godzilla easily pried the door apart and walked outside, he feet sunk into the sand a little and his eyes changed.

He could hear the waves gently crash over the sand and the wind carried the scent of the ocean in his direction. He smiled slightly, he ran over to the water and dove in, after swimming underwater for a few seconds he broke the surface of the water and let himself float. Meanwhile, after Robin went to his room he just sat on his bed and just thought about what had happened.

Was the boy really Godzilla, what did he look like when he wasn't human, and what was the teen planning on doing now? Robin had no idea, more questions kept popping into his head and he didn't have answers to any of them. He knew he wasn't going to be able to sleep with all these questions rattling around in his head.

He thought about just trying to lay down and sleep when he heard someone walking around outside. He left his room to see who it was and it was Godzilla, Robin didn't know what he was doing but he wanted to find out. Robin silently followed him and Godzilla seemed to be looking for something specific, Robin would swear he was using his sense of smell to find it.

After a few minutes he stopped in front of a door and Robin's eyes widened, that was the door that led to the beach outside the mountain. Godzilla pried the doors open and walked outside, Robin quickly and quietly made his way to the doors and looked outside. Godzilla ran toward the water and dove in, when he came up again he just floated in the water, he hadn't expected that.

Robin took a deep breath before walking outside, he hesitated before speaking, "Um, hey."

Godzilla's eyes flew open and he looked at Robin, he looked like he was ready for a fight and Robin was a little surprised. He wasn't surprised by his reaction but rather his eyes, "You're eyes are green."

Godzilla almost looked mortified before he growled and his eyes turned back to the yellow and red they'd been before. "What do you want?"

Robin's eyes widened before something clicked, he thought Robin was going to make him go back inside or get him in trouble. Robin put up his hands in surrender, "Nothing, I mean, I guess I was kind of worried you were going to run away, but I wasn't going to make you stay."

Godzilla stared at him for a minute, he looked shocked and confused, "What?"

"You already said you wanted to go home, I know the others don't really trust you but I get it, being taken from your home isn't easy. You didn't even know what was going on, I wouldn't blame you if you just left, so I'm not going to make you stay."

Godzilla sighed, "I was going to, but I suppose I'll stay for a little longer."

Robin's eyes widened again and he smiled a little, "Really?"

"Do not think this means I will stay forever human, I will only stay so those annoying heroes do not try to come looking for me when I return home."

Robin couldn't help but laugh a little and Godzilla just went back to floating in the water, he looked really calm now. Robin took off his cape, gloves, and boots before going into the water, it was a little cold but not too cold. Robin swam over to Godzilla, "So why were your eyes green?"

Godzilla looked slightly irritated now but kept his eyes closed, "My eyes change when I am calm, and no, I will not explain why."

Robin thought for a second, he didn't know what questions he wanted to ask first, "So what should I call you?"

"Meaning?"

"You said you have a lot of different names, so which one do you want to be called?"

He thought for a second, "Godzilla and Gojira are the ones I am most known for, either of those is fine."

"But what if we end up going somewhere with a lot of people, I don't think you'd want people to know your Godzilla."

He opened his eyes, "You have a point, so what would you suggest?"

Robin thought for a second, "What do you think of Danny?"

Godzilla turned the name over in his head, "I don't hate it."

"Danny it is, I can't really ask you to like any name I'll suggest."

Godzilla looked at him, "You are a strange human."

Robin looked confused, "What do you mean?"

"I attacked those other heroes, told you I'm Godzilla, and that I eat radiation, and none of it seems to phase you."

Robin shrugged, "I guess I'm just used to weird stuff." He panicked slightly, "Not that your weird, your just, uh, not something people see everyday, I guess."

Godzilla laughed a little without meaning to and when Robin smiled he glared at the hero, "You tell anyone about that and I will kill you."

Robin put his left hand up and put his right on his heart, "I promise I won't, but you know it's not a bad thing if you laugh right?"

Godzilla just growled dismissively and the two stayed in the water for a while in silence, at least it was a nice night.
