This is for you, @Useless_Paperclip103

2 years ago, a deviant, running from the police, begged Ra9 to save him and jumped off a building...
right into my arms.
I know, it sounds cliche, but I can explain. I was a firefighter for most of my life, so catching people who were jumping off buildings was kinda my job. So that's how we met. And that's why Rupert calls me his Ra9.
Now that deviants are legal, we have been living together, in a loving relationship. But one night, everything changed.
Rupert and I were sitting at home, playing a game of twister, when he stood up abruptly, knocking me over. He twitched a little, then shook his head. He sat back down, and looked at me, lying on the floor like a dead cockroach.
"What happened to you?" He joked.
I glared at him and said "You knocked me over, that's what!"
He furrowed his brow, looking confused.
"You just stood up, twitched a bit, then sat down." I explained.
He looked even more perplexed.
"I'm sorry, I didn't even notice. I think my software glitched or something."
I shrugged it off and we continued playing.

"Let's go already!" I shouted to Rupert, who was still in the bathroom. We had a reservation at a really fancy restaurant that we could not miss. I had been ready for ages, but he was still doing who knows what. I heard the lock on the bathroom door click, and I grinned. Finally, we could go. The lock clicked again. And again. And again. Ruperts voice drifted out of the bathroom.
"It's jammed."
I rolled my eyes and made my way to the door. I pulled on the door handle, but it would not budge. I glanced at my watch. We had already missed our reservation. I sighed and grabbed the handle once more, this time harder. Like I mentioned earlier, I work as a firefighter, so I know how to break down doors. However, doors aren't cheap. I would rather not have to splinter our current one. I wrenched at the handle again, and the door swung open. Rupert was standing there, looking embarrassed.
"Sorry." He muttered.
"It's fine. We missed our reservation anyway."
He pouted for a second, then his face twisted into a smile.
"What are you grinning about?" I asked, slightly confused.
"Come." He said, simply.
I followed him out the door, his tie nearly getting stuck in the lock. He closed the front door behind us, and motioned to our car. I hopped into the passenger seat, and he typed something into the GPS, making sure I didn't see. Our car set off suddenly, making me lurch forward in my seat.
-TIME SKIP-
We arrived at a large hill, the sun setting as we pulled up. Rupert got out quickly and opened my door for me. I looked at him quizzically, but went with it. We climbed the hill, having difficulty in our posh clothes. When we got to the top, I gasped in surprise and amazement. A small picnic site was set up, with all my favourite foods, a DVD player, and a small, wrapped gift box. Rupert put his arm around my shoulder and said "it's for you."
I ran forwards and sat down on the red blanket that was layered over the ground. I patted the spot next to me, and Rupert sat next to me. He handed me the small wrapped box, and it tore it open in excitement. It was a DVD, slightly scratched, but still beautiful. I slid it into the player, and pressed play. I smiled as one of my favourite songs started to play.
"Perfect" by Ed Sheeran.
I loved this song, mainly because Rupert always used to sing it to me. He stood up and leaned over, offering me his hand.
"May I have this dance?"
I smiled and took his hand. He pulled me up and twirled me around. We danced for what felt like hours, but could only have been a few minutes. After a while we both sat down, huffing and out of breath. He handed me a sandwich and I bit into it. My favourite. We ate for a while, chatting and laughing about nothing in particular. After a little bit, I stood up to look at the view. It was late, so all the lights were on in the city below. Detroit looked so beautiful at night. Rupert stood up as well and tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around to see him down on one knee, with the softest expression on his face and...
Was that a ring??
Yes. Yes it was.
"Two years ago, you saved my life, after I tried to kill myself running from the police. I was ready for death, but instead I got you. Something so much better. And I am so grateful for you, my amazing Ra9. With that being said, will you make me the happiest man alive, and accept my proposal?"
Tears stung my eyes. I felt my face loosen into a smile, and I nodded.
"I will."
Rupert stood up and removed the ring from the box. He stepped over to me and slid the ring onto my finger. A perfect fit. He wiped the tears from my eyes, and leaned in to kiss me. I smiled and kissed him back. He placed his hands on my face and we sunk into each other.
He pulled away and sighed.
"Do you wanna know why I was acting so weird earlier?" He asked.
I nodded, since I was still speechless.
"I was nervous. It only really hit me what I was about to do when we were playing twister. That's why I was being so strange."
I bit my lip.
He was nervous. How adorable.
We spent the rest of the night laughing and crying happily, and I fell asleep on that hill. The beauty of Detroit was incredible, but all I could see was Rupert, his face illuminated by ecstasy.
I've never felt happier.
2 years ago I caught him.
And today, we caught each other, and tied the knot.

A/N: Hi everyone! I'm back! I've been on a kind of Hiatus for a while, but I'm back. I've been settling into a new school, and focusing on that mainly has drained most of my energy.
I really hope you liked this one shot!
