The room the portal led us into was ornately decorated and shone in the coloured lights which illuminated it. And from the crowd of people inside, dressed in flashy brands, I could tell it was popular.
"Welcome to Witches' Coven," a man walked up to us and said. He had metallic golden hair and was wearing a bright golden suit. His eyes were a dull shade of gold and his body was anointed with golden piercings. He held out a handful of black bracelets - blackstone - and beckoned us to stretch our hands forward. I shifted backwards. There was no way in the nine hells I would be bound by those magick-resisting bracelets again.
Nicolas flashed him a golden card with a logo on it. "Right. VIP," the man said with a dull smile. "Mikoto -"
Mikoto raised her hands up in the air before the golden man could finish his statement. "I know, Harry. I won't cause any problem like last time. In fact, I won't cast even the simplest spell," she said.
Her words seemed to brighten the man's smile. "That's good. Now I have some special treats. You know Jubilee is throwing a party and all, so, some rare sweets made it to the club tonight." He winked at her.
Mikoto have an exaggerated gasp. "No! You don't mean...?" Harry nodded. "Go meet your husband, Harry. I'll be coming over to say, hi, and to get some sweets later on." She beamed with a smile as bright as Harry's.
"What's so special about the sweets?" I asked Angela.
Angela gave me a weird look that soon dissolved into a look of pity. "Oh! You poor thing. You haven't figured out that they are talking about drugs yet? And by the looks of it, it seems we're talking about the magickal kind." She hissed sharply. "That hypocrite. After judging me about the Angel Lily."
Khalil dragged Mikoto away, and Robert left after muttering a, "I'm gonna go get a rune tat." Ronald on the other hand, patted Nicolas on the shoulder, and after shooting me a look I couldn't decipher, he also went to another corner of the club.
"I guess it's just us three then," Nicolas said.
"Then let's make it worth it and go get a drink. I'm thirsty." Angela held me by the hand and we both made our way through the warm bodies around the club. It seemed that whoever this Jubilee was, they had a lot of magickal friends. I spotted various magickal beings. High elves, vampires, pixies, and most surprising, dark elves. One particular dark elf kept his eyes on me as I moved through the club. I shrugged.
"What do you want?" Nicolas asked me when we reached the bar. The bar was thankfully less crowded and the music didn't sound as loud there. Three of us took our seats on the stools by the bar.
"A witches' brew mixed with a devil's brew. And if course, a good amount of gin," I said to the gorgeous Indian bartender. He flashed me a set of white teeth as he went on to get my order.
"For an excommunicate, you have quite the knowledge on magickal drinks," Nicolas said. Angela ordered a drink with a funny name that I didn't bother paying attention to.
"Well, I have a friend who isn't an excommunicate like I am. We would both sneak into his parents' cellar and drink till we are bladdered," I answered. "Then we'll try to fill them back up with spells." I recalled those moments. For the first time since we began the trial, I was suddenly missing the company of my best friend.
"Bugger off!" Angela groaned and held her drink to her lips."Tell us something more fun than sneaking off to drink and drunk casting."
