There was only a month away until your daughter turns five years old. Yes, it was still early to plan but you wanted to get things done ahead of time. Luke was still on tour and you two were on Skype "I can't believe our daughter's turning five in a month!"

"I know! Time flies! Our baby's growing up too fast." Since he wanted to see your daughter, she was also with you Skyping with Luke. "Mommy, Daddy for my birthday can it be a Disney themed party?" Your daughter suggested. "Of course sweetheart."

"Anything for our princess." He smiled and your daughter cheered.

"Um daddy... can I ask you something?" Y/D/N asked shyly.

"Sure what is it?"

''Are you going to be here on my birthday?"

"I wouldn't miss it for the world princess".

“Promise?"

"Promise." 

It was getting late and your daughter already fell asleep in your arms. Luke told you how much he misses you and he can't wait to see you and your daughter in a month.

In the next two weeks you were occupied planning your daughters’ birthday party. She said that she wanted to have it at your backyard instead. Your daughter was really excited about her party. "I can't wait to see daddy!"

"Me too sweetheart" You read her a bedtime story and she fell asleep.

In that time you were receiving a call from Luke. “Hey honey. I won’t be able to make to Y/D/N birthday. Our manager said we have an interview that day so I can’t fly back home.” You were mad at him. Luke promised your daughter to come and she really missed him, you both did. And now hearing this from Luke will definitely make your daughter upset.

“Are you serious right now Luke? You’re missing your daughters birthday because of some interview?”

“For your information this is part of my job!” He yelled through the phone.

“Well guess what Luke you have another job too and that’s being a father to Y/D/N!”

“What do you want me to do? Cancel the interview just to go to her party? Y/N this is part of my job and this is what keeps us alive! Why are you being so ungrateful right now?”

This fight between you and Luke over your daughters' birthday isn’t going to stop. “I’m not being ungrateful! I just want you to at least spend some time with your daughter. You barely spend time with her when you’re not in tour and then this happens? You know what Luke whatever. Don’t come to her party, just focus on your career because obviously that’s more important to you.” You hung up.

“Mommy?” you turned around and saw your daughter rubbings her eyes.

“Mommy what was that?”

“Nothing sweetheart go back to sleep okay?” You led her to her room and fell asleep with her.

You couldn’t believe what just happened between you and Luke. Yes you’re happy that he’s doing his job but what about your daughter? Does Luke not have a special space for your daughter?

The next morning you didn’t want your daughter to notice that you and Luke had a fight. But that didn’t work because you’ve been ignoring his calls for the past few hours. Your daughter kept asking why you’re not answering the phone and you simply answered her and said “It’s probably one of those marketers. You know the people trying to sell you things over the phone?” She nodded.

The phone kept ringing until the afternoon, you were already getting a headache from it. Your daughter was already getting annoyed from all the calls that you’ve been getting so she simply answered the phone. “Hello? Hemmings residence. If you’re one of the marketers please stop calling this phone we don’t want to buy anything from you.” You giggled on the side hearing how mature your daughter is.

“Oh. Hi Daddy!” she exclaimed. “Yeah she’s here” You didn’t want to talk to Luke yet.

“Y/D/N tell daddy that mommy’s going to sleep already and to not bother mommy okay?” you yelled giving your child instructions. You were still upset with him not because he couldn’t come but you were missing him and you were really excited to see him.

You didn’t hear the rest of their conversation but your daughter had a sad face. “What’s wrong sweetheart?” you asked. “are you upset that Daddy can’t come to your party?” she looked up to you.

“Well I’m a little bit upset because he can’t come but I’m more upset that Mommy and Daddy are fighting. Mommy I don't want you and Daddy fighting” she pouted. “Daddy said he was sorry that he couldn’t come to my birthday but he said he’ll make it up to me when he comes back so please Mom don’t be mad at Daddy.” You pulled her into a hug and said okay.

That day you decided to call Luke and apologize about your childish behaviour. He also apologized in his part. “Sorry for yelling at you last night. I guess… I was just really upset that you couldn’t come and I was really excited to see you.” You explained, Luke sighed. “I know honey I’m really sorry but when I come back were going to have some family bonding okay?”

“Okay. I’m looking forward to it.”

“I love you Honey” he said

“I love you too” you replied.
