“Hey babe!” Luke greeted your through Skype.

“Why hello there handsome!” you said giggling.

Luke was on tour and for the past few months this was the only way you two could talk to each other. He was busy with his life, and you were busy with your own but you two are just glad and thankful to spend even 5 minutes talking to each other. You know what they say “every second counts”

“Nina, I know you’re birthday’s coming up and I’m really sorry I can’t spend it with you” Luke pouted.

“Awwees it’s okay my penguin, don’t worry about it okay. We can celebrate it whenever we can.” You smiled trying to cheer up your boyfriend.

“Really even though its three months late?” He said

“Of course” you smiled.

It was getting late for you and Luke had to go to an interview. You said your goodbyes and drifted to sleep.

For the past few weeks you’ve been busy with work. It was getting hard to balance your relationship with Luke. And you didn’t know how to save your relationship, because you feel like it’s starting to fall apart. All the late night calls became once a week. The two hours of skyping became the only time where you guys said “Hi” or “goodbye” due to Luke’s busy and tight schedule.

You didn’t want it to get in your head so you just kept working until your birthday finally came. You didn’t even know, but you didn’t really care. For you it was just another ordinary workday.

“Nina? What are you doing here? Aren’t you suppose to be celebrating your birthday today?” your boss asked.

“well there’s no one to celebrate too” you said shrugging your shoulders.

“None sense! Go take a day off and treat yourself or something! You’ve been working hard lately. You deserve a rest Nina”

“No really. It’s okay I’m fine working on my birthday and you can’t change my mind”

“Really? Cause I think can” your boss smirked at you.

“Happy birthday Babe” You turned around and saw your boyfriend standing there. You couldn’t believe it. He was really here.

“Take a day off Nina. I know you changed your mind already” your boss walked away and left you with Luke.

“What? How? Why are you here?”

“Cause it’s my girlfriends birthday and I wouldn’t want to miss it.” He kissed your forehead.

You had a big smile after five months, you can finally hug and kiss him.

“This is definitely the best birthday present I ever got. Thanks Luke” you kissed his cheeks.

“Oh no babe, if you think this is your present you’re wrong.” He said dragging you towards the car.

You giggled and thought to yourself “Luke is definitely full of surprises.”
