A few days have passed and the day finally came. The Royal Family from the North has arrived last night and has finally settled in. Although, the Southern Palace was in chaos. The servants are everywhere, preparing the the Royal dinner and making sure everything was clean and spotless.
They knew, everyone knew, that they need to have a good impression to the Northern royals.
Because if this engagement fails, they have no match against the Northern Army.
"Yah, Princess Seolhee! Where do you think you're going?" Minjin, Seolhee's attendant, called her as she spotted the princess trying to sneak out of her room. "Let me live, Minjin. I'm bored. I just want to roam around and give myself a tour around their palace." Seolhee said as she turned around to face Minjin. "Besides, I thought you're working for me, not the other way around." She added jokingly. "Well, your majesty, it is my duty to keep an eye on you. So, you're not leaving this room without your favorite assitant." Minjin said with a cheeky smile.
"Nope, I don't think so. You're staying here while I roam around." Seolhee tutted.
"But-"
"No but's Minjin. Besides, you can spend this time with your boyfriend." Seolhee said as she opened the door and stepped out. "Hoseok is not my boyfriend!" Minjin shouted as soon as Seolhee closed the door. "Yeah, you tell yourself that." Seolhee said softly with a smile before turning around to wander the halls.
As she roamed along the halls with some servants greeting her evey now and then, she ended up in the south wing and the palace library. "Why can't we have our own library?" Seolhee asked to herself as she slowly opened the library doors before slowly stepping in.
"Hello?" Seolhee said as she went in, eyes widening in surprise. Sheleves were everywhere filled with various of books.
Namjoon was peacefully napping in his office, a book covering his face until he heard the doors open being followed by a feminine voice that he has never heard before. So Namjoon stood up and groggily exited his office but as soon as he saw who has entered, his eyes widened and the need for sleep left his body.
"O-oh! Your majesty." Namjoon said as he bowed. Seolhee turned her head to the direction of the voice and noticed a man in a uniform, guessing that he was the palace librarian. "H-hi..." Seolhee said awkwardly. "Um, you can stand up straight now." She said to the male.
"I see that you have arrived the palace, your majesty." Namjoon said as he regained his composure and strided towards the princess. Seolhee can feel her cheeks heat up since she wasn't used to interact with new people. But she heaved out a sigh and managed to crack up a smile.
I have to be confident.
"Yes, we have arrived last night." Seolhee said as she managed to get a better look on the librarian. He was indeed tall, taller than her to be exact. He was literally towering over her and with her height of 5'4, she literally have to look up.
"I hope you had a good night's rest, your highness. Now, how may I help you?" Namjoon said with a smile, his dimples making a cameo. Seolhee can't help but smile back too to the warm boy, her cheeks blushing up a bit as she felt flustered. "Well, I was roaming around until I got in here and I love books. So... would you mind showing me around the library?" Seolhee said as she tried to mask her excitement. Namjoon chuckled and nooded, extending his arm as he showed her around.
They went from shelf to shelf, discussing their own favorite books. They roamed around for an hour as Seolhee was choosing her books to borrow so she can read it in her spare time and at the same way, she and Namjoon managed to form their own little friendship. "You should meet Seokjin-oppa. He's our palace cook and he makes good meals! He was actually with us when we came here. I bet he's at the kitchen preparing for tonight's dinner." Seolhee exclaimed as she examined the books on her arms. So far, she borrowed 4 books from the library and Namjoon told her that she could borrow more if she wants as long as she returns it after reading. "If ever we crossed paths, then it would be an honor to have his acquaintance. Run along now, you still have to prepare later. Do you know your way back?" Namjoon asked as he opened the door for the Princess. "And are you sure you don't need help carrying those books?" Seolhee shook her head and smiled. "I'll be fine, Joonie-oppa. And if ever I get lost, I could ask around anyways." Seolhee said as she stepped out. "I'll see you around, Namjoon! Thank you for today." She said with a smile and bowed before turning around and head back to her room.
"Woah, that's a lot of books. Where did you get those?" Minjin said as she took the books from Seolhee's hands and placed it on the shelf. "They have a library, Minjin. Isn't that great!" Seolhee said as she sat down in front of the huge vanity mirror. "I see, and did you perhaps met someone new? Like, the prince?" Minjin said teasingly whilst Seolhee rolled her eyes. "Unfortunately, my dear Minjin. I havn't been able to bump into my dear future husband." Seolhee said sarcastically. "Instead, I met the palace librarian. He's such a cool guy. And I found out that he likes to read books too so we got along pretty well." Seolhee said with a smile and now it's Minjin's turn to roll her eyes. "Don't tell me you like him." She said as she started to brush Seolhee's hair.
"Jeez, Louise, Minjin. I don't like him, okay?" Seolhee said as she reached from behind to smack her friend. "He's 4 years older than me and I see him as an older brother, okay? Just like Seokjin-oppa." She countinue as Minjin nodded. "Okay, if you say so. Now stop talking. I'll fix your hair for tonight."
