It would be apt to say that Calla Snape was not a fan of Harry Potter. Some would assume that she, like the rest of her house, simply disliked the boy because of his shining goodness. Others would assume, wrongly, that Calla was simply following in the footsteps of her father and drawing her dislike for the boy primarily from the way Harry's father treated her father while they were in school. Neither of these assumptions would be correct, however. In all actuality, Calla had a completely unique reason for her clear dislike for the boy. She didn't even particularly care that Harry Potter had the unique talent of getting the end of the year exams canceled, and therefore royally screwing over anyone who was taking their OWLs or NEWTs. No, Calla Snape disliked- hated- Harry Potter because of his mother.

It was a strange reason, certainly for all those who knew Lily potter when she was alive. She was a sweet witch and a wonderful mother, and in all minds she was a hero for defending her son against the Dark Lord that night back in 1981. And in most respects, Calla would agree that Lily Potter was a brilliant witch. But there was a small part of her, one Calla tried most of the time to bury beneath knowledge and mischief, that hated the woman she was named after, the woman that her father still pined after and the woman she would never match. Calla had always been an intelligent child, and from a very young age she had been able to grasp that her father would never have a fondness for her. But it hadn't been until she was a bit older, when she saw what lily Potter's death did to him, that she realized exactly what it meant to live in the shadow of a ghost. Her eyes were green, but not the right color of green. She was Lily, but not the right Lily. And Severus Snape only had room in his heart for one person.

Calla would never defend herself and say she had a good reason for hating a dead woman, her reason was born out of spite and jealousy for affection that her father was never able to give her, but she wasn't able to set the hate aside. Especially not when her father came back to their chambers the night of the Great Feast, practically vibrating with anger because her eyes were on his face. Lily and James' son was at Hogwarts, and even though Severus loathed the boy's father, he loved his mother and for that he would do anything to protect the boy. Which was a devotion that Calla could not imagine her own father offering her.

Calla was particularly good at avoiding the boy though, even her cold Slytherin heart knowing that the boy didn't deserve to be on the receiving end of her cold fury, until she was given no choice in the matter. She had mucked up her spell slightly, she had finally gone to undergo her final transformation into an animagus and although she had made the initial transformation with little issue, she had retained some of the unfortunate characteristics of the animal when she tried to regain her human form and had found herself in the hospital the same time as Harry Potter and his posse.

Thankfully, however, due to Calla's delicate condition the lights in the hospital wing had been lowered and she very much doubted that any of the three could see her clearly, if they even knew who she was.

That didn't stop the girl of the three, Hermione if Calla remembered correctly, from sending Calla cautious looks every once in a while. Which, truth be told, Calla didn't blame her for. Even if the younger girl couldn't tell who she was, she could clearly see the green on Calla's school robes. Furthermore, if the whispered conversation that Calla had been able to head meant anything, the three of them had just faced the Dark Lord himself, and that experience was bound to leave the three of them scared for life and more than a little weary around strangers. One of Calla's ears twitched at the sound of Hermione and the red haired one, Ron, whispering to one another. Unfortunately, one of the more unfortunate side effects of Calla's condition were the two pointed ears sticking up on either side of Calla's head. Bat ears.

Calla ground her mildly pointed teeth, and glanced away, hoping more than anything that it was Minerva that Madame Pomfrey went to first, for her expertise in transfiguration, and not Calla's father for her familial ties to the man. Calla most defiantly wanted her face back to normal, certainly her hearing, before she was made to face the lecture her father was sure to give her.
