Chapter 1: Spartans Never Die

POV: Summer

I was woken up in the middle of the night by my scroll going off. I pick it up and answer the call. "Hello?"

"Summer, we need you and Qrow to come over to Beacon as soon as possible."

"Glynda? Do you have any idea what time it is?"

"5 o'clock." I checked my scroll and, sure enough, it was. "Okay, we'll be there as soon as we can."

"Good, see you when you two get here." Glynda hung up before I could say anything else. I sighed before putting my scroll away. "Qrow, get up. We got a mission."

Qrow groaned as he sat up. "I'm up. What's the mission about?" he asked as he rubbed his eyes.

"No, just that it's urgent and to be at Ozpins as soon as possible."

"Alright alright." We got up and ready for the mission.

I walked to Rubys room and went to knock on the door when she opened it excitedly, already dressed. "Where are we going?!"

"Beacon, you'll have to stay with Ozpin okay? Your father and I have a mission."

"Oh...okay." Ruby said, saddened.

"Hey, I promise we can get some cookies after okay?"

"Okay...can you also tell me more about big brother?"

I was caught off guard by the question. "M-Maybe someday. For now, let's get going."

The three of us walked out to the car and drove to the airpads. We paid to park for an extended time before catching the bullhead to Beacon. Ruby was excited to be here. "Been a while since we were huh?" Qrow said.

"Yup, things have changed a lot." I replied.

"This is so exciting! I'm at Beacon!!" Ruby practically yelled.

Qrow chuckled. "Well maybe Oz can give you a tour while we're gone." Ruby was estatic to hear that. We walked into the elevator and went up to Ozpins floor. Glynda was outside of the office in a little lobby the elevator opened up too.

"Good, you're here." Glynda said.

"Yea, no thanks to you." Qrow replied, then he flinched when I smacked him in the arm.

"Anyway, is Ozpin ready to see us?" I asked.

"Yes, as is Ironwood."

"Wait, why Ironwood?" I ask.

Glynda stepped aside. "See for yourself."

I knelt and turned to Ruby. "Okay sweetie, we're going to be a while so for now, you'll stay with professor Goodwitch, okay?"

"Okay." Ruby said as she hugged me. "I love you mom."

"I love you too." With that, Qrow and I left our daughter in Glyndas care as we walked into Ozpins office. Ozpin was at his desk as usual, and Ironwood really WAS there.

"Ah, good morning Mrs. Rose, Mr. Brawnwen." Ozpin said.

"Morning Ozpin, what's so important to call us both here?" I ask curiously.

"It's about this." Ozpin said as Ironwood pulled up live footage in Emerald Forest. A relatively large armored thing laid on the ground. "He appears to be unconscious, but given the armor he also appears to be dangerous."

"Which is why I'm sending one of my best with you." Ironwood said. "She'll be able to keep you both out of harms way."

"Doubt it." Qrow remarked.
