It’s already the day of the wedding and there is nothing else I can do here so I packed my things and just left. I checked out from the hotel and took a cab going to the airport. I guess this is it. This is all where it ends. I clearly know that as I leave this place, it’s over for me and Chase will live a happy life together with the man of her dreams.

“Jin?” someone called me. Chase? I turned to see who it is and-

“Jessie, what are you doing here?” I asked her.

“That’s- never mind. But are you not going to attend Chase’s wedding?” she asked. At first I thought how she knew that Chase is getting married but then I remembered Chase is marrying a famous guy here in Europe so I think all of the people here know it already.

“No, I think I’ll pass.” I responded with a forced smiled thinking it would just be useless for me to see her marry June.

“Then care to have an early lunch with me?” She asked with a smile making me look at my wrist watch.

“Come on! It would only just be a quick one.” She said gripping her hands on one of my arms so I just accepted her offer and nodded making her very happy about it.

I’m already on my wedding gown with all the bridesmaids I hardly even know and I am just afraid if the decision I have made is a mistake but even if it is, it’s already very late for me to change my decision. I felt the touch of the necklace’s pendant leaning on my chest and yes, I miss my best friend and hope he will be here to give me the strength to face this. I took my cellular phone and looked at his picture thinking I should call him but someone called for my attention telling me it will start soon so I placed my cellular phone away and walked out of the room and in to the garden where the wedding ceremony is held. Looking at the place, it made my heart crumble and it would be very dull of me to say I don’t know why. I know why I am feeling like this but I can’t admit it, not in this situation. I’m already walking on the aisle and somehow just walking, it is making me feel very nervous. I looked at all the people around me but I can’t seem to find Jin.

*Jin’s POV

“Have you ever felt like wanting something you can’t have?” Jessie suddenly came into topic while holding unto her hot coffee. Why is she asking me this?

“I would be lying if I’d say no.” I responded making me stop from slicing my pancakes.

“But it doesn’t mean we should stop trying, right?” She asked looking at me.

“But if you can’t have it, why bother trying?” I asked her back.

“People try because trying is better than not and regret it in the end.” She said looking at me with a piercing look on the face. What is it really that she is trying to tell me?

“What’s your point?” I asked her.

“You love Chase, right?” she asked me.

“Yes,” I said in a whisper.

“Then go get her before it’s too late.” She said making me stand up on my feet.

“Jessie, can I have your rubber band?” I asked her.

“Sure.” She said with her eyes quite curious and gave it to me.

“Thanks!” I said and ran out calling a taxi.

How can I be so foolish? How can I not see it? The one girl that I love is none other but my best friend. Chase Baron. Chase, please, wait for me. I’m coming.

“We are all gathered here today to witness the holy matrimony of two people; June Guci and Chase Baron.” The priest started. Am I really ready for this?

“Before we continue- Any objection? Or forever hold your peace.” The priest said but no one responded.

“Very well, let’s-” The priest was stopped.

“I object!” A familiar opposing voice of a man came into sound. Everybody was in shock, even me. I turned to see who it is and-

“Jin?” I whispered to myself.

“Chase, all my life I have been hiding my feelings for you but I can’t hide it any longer. I have loved you since we were younger and up until now I still love you. I love you so much. Please. Please don’t leave me.” He pleaded.

I looked at Jin feeling the urge to cry then I looked at June thinking how can I leave June without hurting him?

“It’s alright,” June said while looking at me and held my hand.

“Be with the one you love.” June said with a smile.

“But, June-” I was stopped.

“Don’t worry about me. I also think that we are too fast for this. And besides, I have to search for something I have lost long ago.” June said.

“June,” I said her name.

“Thank you,” I hugged June with a smile with tears running down my cheeks and ran to Jin and hugged him.

“Jin, I love you too.” I cried with my hands cupping Jin’s cheeks.

“Take me away.” I said and in an instant, Jin held my hand and the both of us ran away until we reached to some place that led us by our feet away from all the whispers of the people.

“Chase,” Jin called my name and took something out of his pocket.

“Will you marry me?” Jin asked making my eyes widen by his proposal. I looked at the object on his hands.

“But that’s a rubber band.” I laughed.

“I know. It might not be the best ring I can give you for now but I want you to know that my love for you is the best thing I can give you.” Just hearing those words from him made me feel butterflies on my stomach and made me smile.

“I will! I will marry you!” I accepted jumping on him hugging him and kissed each other. Then we heard people clapping their hands which made us break from the kiss and laughed.

TWO MONTHS LATER

“Good morning Mrs. Ash” I took the blanket away from my face and saw the most handsome guy I know who is my best friend and is now my husband; looking at me with a smile.

“Good morning Mr. Ash” I responded and his lips made its way to mine making me giggle.

“Look what I found.” Jin said handing me a card.

“What is it?” I asked him.

“June is getting married.” Jin said.

“Who’s the lucky girl?” I asked curious opening the invitation card.

“With Jessie,” Jin said.

“What?” I said in shock and Jin laughed. That’s right! June’s long lost best friend was Jessie. I looked at Jin and gave out a grin.

“So it’s a happy ending for all of us, isn’t it?” I smiled and held Jin’s hand.

“It is.” Jin responded grabbing my hand making me lean unto his chest making our lips meet each other; and the rest? Well, that’s a secret.
