Chapter 7

"John dear, take Cassie away. Go! I'll handle from here."

He took my arm and we went out. My heart was still beating wildly. I was shocked at every word Henry had said as if he'd spoken a language I couldn't understand. All the world swung before my eyes with the smell of dismay. I couldn't speak or think anything. WHAT HAD HAPPENED?!

I started to cry hysterically. John lovely caressed me and pulled me closer to him. He hugged me and whispered softly in my ears,

"It's okay Bells. Everything will be fine. D-did he hurt you? Are you okay?"

. His eyes desperately searched mine, waiting for the answer. I fell on the road we were walking on which we were walking. The next thing I knew was I had buried my face in his chest and the sound of my muffed sobbed surrounded us. I could hear John's heart catching pace. He hugged me tightly against him and asked again.

"Bells, tell me what did he say? What happened?"

I shifted my eyes into his and feebly mumbled, with my cold lips brushing his down chin,

"J-john, h-he said that I ruined their lives. H-he said that Kevin went away because of me. A-and he said that I am an a-adopted freak." My voice broke at this point Again the silence fell and everything went still. John patted me on my back. He tried to calm me down but I could now hear his heart beat roaring in his chest. Still he tried to get me out of my panicked state.

"It's okay sweetheart. Come on. Get up. We have to go home. Come."

There I realized that I was still in the middle of the road. I tried to stand but my legs were trembling. John held my waist tight with his strong hands and we started walking home. We soon reached his house. He sat me on the sofa in a relaxed state and took out my phone from under my pant pocket.

He told me that my mom had called me 15 times this whole time but he told me not to worry. He said he wouldn't tell my mom about what had happened and that he would tell mom that I became tried of all the party decorations and slept. After some time he came back and headed me to his room. He sat on the bed and I followed his motion. My eyes were still wet and I couldn't help shaking. John held my freezing hands into his warm hands. His warm touch was the only thing that could help me in the situation I was in.

He told me that everything will be fine. I rose my face to meet his concerned and assuring eyes. I wanted to believe in every word he said. I gave him a smile that quickly fainted from my lips.

"John."

"Yes Bells?" He answered, drawing circles on the cold skin of my bare hands.

"Life is so unexpected. I-I never thought what this day would bring to me when I woke up."

He rubbed me gently on my back and I continued in a low voice.

" I never could have imagined that I was adopted. Why did no one ever tell me that?" Silence fell again.

"John? Did you know that I was adopted? Did you?"

He lowered his gaze and his grip on my hands began to loose. I was appalled. My eyes went as wide as they could when I realized the meaning of reaction of my question. I stared at him in disbelief. How he would know such a thing! Although he was my childhood friend but still. How could he know such thing I never had imagined!

"So that's why you were kind to me all the time and always?!" My month spitted.
