The antidote

Alyssa sat in the Herbology classroom with her eyes glued to the board but with her mind set on Valerie.

She sighed. "Valerie Lois Joyce, why are you so reckless?" She muttered to herself.

"Ms Claw, do you find Mister Nids more interesting than this lesson?" Professor Aian asked.

Alyssa snapped out of her trance and saw that she was staring at Edwin (A/N: NO! NONONONONONO! I WON'T ALLOW IT'S!). She quickly sat up straight. "I'm sorry, Professor." She said quickly, before turning back to her parchment.

-at the Hospital Wing-

Zayn was asleep on a chair beside Valerie's bed when Professor Linn came in.

"Mister Cromar, I must ask you to move aside." She said, taking a vial out of her robe pocket.

Zayn quickly sat up straight and looked up at Professor Linn. "What's that for, Professor?" He asked.

"It is none of your concern, but if you insist to know, it is to help me cure Ms Joyce." Professor Linn sighed then moved her hand in a shooing motion, telling Zayn to move aside.

Zayn did as he was ordered and Professor Linn scootched down to Valerie and took a small knife from her robe pocket.

"I advise that you don't look, Mister Cromar. Unless you are fond of bloodshed." She said sternly.

Zayn didn't understand but moved away anyway.

After a few seconds, Professor Linn said, "You may return to your seat now, Mister Cromar."

Zayn sat back down and saw Professor Linn swirling the vial with...blood?

"Good day to you, Mister Cromar." She said, and left the Hospital Wing- at once.

-Time skip-

That evening, Alyssa finished her food at top speed before telling Professor Aliyah she was going to the Hospital Wing.

Alyssa entered the Hospital Wing to see Zayn on a chair beside Valerie's bed.

"..hi, Mister Cromar." She said softly.

Zayn looked up. "Oh," He muttered once he saw Alyssa. "Hello, Alyssa. How was your day?"

"It was fine. How's Val holding up?" Alyssa asked.

"She's fine as well. Professor Linn came in hours ago and said she was working on Valerie's antidote." Zayn said, gazing Valerie's figure.

"That's nice." Alyssa said, taking out her wand. "Accio chair," She said, and a chair flew beside Zayn's.

Silence swam around them for a moment before they heard Valerie whimper.

"What's wrong with her?" Zayn asked at once, standing up.

"She's having a nightmare. Get me water from a basin, stat." Alyssa ordered, standing up as well.

Zayn took out his wand and summoned a basin of water out of thin air. Alyssa Quickly took it and dipped Valerie's hand into it. Valerie stopped whimpering.

"How did a basin of water help her?" Zayn asked, apparently flabbergasted.

"Val's always had a deep connection to the ocean, to the water. She loves every bit of it, from the tides to the horizon. When she's having a nightmare, Alice, Jamie and I always apply a wet towel on her hand. It helps her calm down, helps her remember she has friends like you." Alyssa explained, now dipping Valerie's other hand into the basin. After a short pause, Alyssa said, "She's happy she met you, Zayn. It's a really big change to her life. When I met her, she would always ask if I'm angry with her. She had Angrophobia at the time- She was scared of getting others angry or getting angry herself." Alyssa added, seeing Zayn's confused face. "She changed when she met you, Lisette and Edwin."

"How big of a change?" Zayn asked.

"The biggest. Her Boggart shows you three dead. It sometimes shows you three being tortured, or taken away from her. That's when she gained Athazagoraphobia. She fears you three forgetting and ignoring her. Nightmares come to her sometimes and with help from Professor Aliyah, she dreams you three ignore her, and sometimes she dreams you three forgetting about her. One particular night, she woke up at 2 am, running up to my bed and crying." Alyssa smiled softly at Valerie before turning to Zayn.

Zayn, being the non-emotional guy he is, looked back at her nervously. "I-It's getting late, Alyssa. You should go back to your dorm now...." He said awkwardly.

Alyssa smiled at him. "Before I go," She blushed lightly before standing on her tip-toes, "Promise me you won't leave Val's side." She muttered before allowing the inch separating hers and Zayn's lips apart break. She kissed him fully on the lips while Zayn stood there paralyzed.

"Zayn?" Valerie's voice rang in the room.

Alyssa and Zayn jump apart, turned to Valerie's bed and Zayn felt his heart sink. Valerie was awake, and beside her was Professor Linn. Valerie looked confused, heartbroken and angry.

"What's going on?" Madam Kiesha suddenly entered the room, but spotting the look on Professor Linn's face, she exited.

"Val, I can explain-" Alyssa began, but Valerie cut across her.

"I don't have time for this." Valerie said coldly, her glare moving from Zayn to Alyssa with pain and anger. She sat up, thanked Professor Linn and exited the room, half limping, half running.

"Valerie, wait!" Alyssa pleaded and ran up to Valerie.

Zayn turned to Professor Linn. "Why?" He asked.

"Why what?" Professor Linn raised an eyebrow.

"Don't play dumb, Fiona." Zayn growled.

"Ten points from Slytherin, Cromar." Professor Linn said calmly.

"I don't care about my house points!" Zayn said loudly. "Why would you Apparate in here and do that to Valerie?"

"Miss Joyce has been lied to since birth. Do you not think she should know the truth? That she shouldn't know you have been cheating on her?"

"I would never cheat on Valerie even if my life depended on it!"

"Then explain."

"It was ALYSSA!"

"Yet you showed no signs of wanting to stop her. Could it be that you liked it?"

Zayn opened his mouth and closed it repeatedly. "I-I...."

"Your protest is invalid and you have wasted too much of my time. Miss Corazon still has detention with me, and I have left her waiting for too long." Professor Linn said rather coldly before leaving the Hospital Wing.

Zayn stood there, as paralyzed as he was when Alyssa had kissed him.
