Being a Slyherin

-after classes-

After the classes came and went, the four friends met up at the Great Hall for dinner. Zayn was still throwing pity looks at Valerie, who stayed quiet the whole day and avoided him as much as possible. When Lisette had asked why Valerie was avoiding him, Zayn shook his head and said,

"It's nothing, Mae. This is just a.....typical....Valerie and Zayn....argument...?" Zayn smiled sheepishly.

Lisette sighed. "I can tell  you're lying, but I also think you don't wanna talk about it, so I will stop asking." She smiled.

"Thanks, Lis." Zayn said, the smile on his face not leaving.

"No problem." Lisette assured then turned and stopped at the Ravenclaw table. "See you tomorrow, Mark."

"Yeah. Same to you." Zayn said then headed to the Slytherin table.

-after dinner-

Zayn finished his dinner first of all, and I mean ALL the Slytherins. He stood up and left the Great Hall, giving an anxious look at Valerie.

He was walking down the Entrance Hall and soon reached the Slytherin common room.

"Fairy lights." He muttered and the portrait sprang open. He entered the green torched room and sighed, deciding to go upstairs to the boys' dormitories.

Zayn entered the boys' dormitories and got dressed. He lied down on his four-poster and sighed deeply.

'I think I'm losing it...maybe those boys were right....' Zayn thought. 'Slytherins shouldn't stand up for Hufflepuffs, or any other house, nor should they be concerned with them. But why do I feel this way?' Then Zayn's eyes widened. 'Am I in love with Valerie?!' He stood up. 'No no no no no.....this can't be....I can't've....'

Then the door opened revealing the boys who made fun of Valerie.

"Zayn Cromar..." One of them muttered.

Zayn stayed silent as he eyed the boys one by one.

"Look, we're sorry we made fun of Ms Joyce today." The other said.

"Apologize to her, not to me." Zayn said then layed down again. "One reason, because it was her you did wrong to, not me. And second, I wouldn't forgive you even if it cost my life."

The boys kept silent at that. Zayn turned to face the wall and sighed. He heard the boys walk up to their beds and got dressed.

~the following morning~

Zayn awoke the next morning with a frown on his face. He was hoping Valerie had forgotten about yesterday after what happened so he stood up and got dressed.

-at the Great Hall-

Zayn and the other Slytherins entered the Great Hall and walked up to the Slytherin table.

On his way, Zayn saw Valerie alone on the end of the table again, eating porridge and staring blankly at the table. She caught Zayn staring at her and Zayn quickly looked away.

Zayn reached the Slytherin table last and sat where he knew was close to Valerie. Valerie looked his direction and Zayn looked at hers. After what seemed like a few seconds, Valerie smiled a soft smile at Zayn.

"Sorry I ignored you yesterday." She said.

"Don't worry about it. It's okay." Zayn smiled.

"What's your next class?" Valerie asked.

"Divination. You?" Zayn sighed.

"I have Divination too. Wait for me after breakfast?" Valerie grinned.
