DIANE POV:

Diane stared at herself in the mirror, noticing every little spot, every little blemish trying to fix it with the the large pile of make-up lying across the school bathroom sink.

Over time she had just developed an OCD for her face.

Flawless. Perfect. Untouchable. If they figured out that she could be any less than that, people would realize that she was just human too. Human were vulnerable, they could be hurt. She didn't have the luxury to be that way.

She couldn't go back to the way her life used to be before...

"Diane! OMG I missed you, haven't seen you in ages, you look so great!" A squeaky voice ambushed her out of nowhere as she was nearly tackled by the one and only Kelsea, her "best-friend".

In case you were wondering, the quotations marks are not a grammatical error. Knowing everything that was said behind her back, Diane had still befriended the jealous little bitch because her mother was the owner of the biggest pharmaceutical company in the country. A powerful ally...but still replaceable.

Most of her relationships in school were mainly diplomatic. Except maybe Brandon...

It was better that way. Real relationships made things too complicated. Too real.

"Hey Kelsea, you look pretty good yourself." Diane answered barely acknowledging her while she cleared her things up.

She took the bait anyway, "Yea, I lost 5 pounds this summer, started this only greens diet. I still can't look as pretty as you though." What an obvious kiss ass.

"Anyway, did you hear about the new transfer student. Apparently he's pretty hot, but he's like a nerd or something. Got a scholarship or something." The cheerleader tried to look unbothered , but Diane could see sparkle in her cold grey eyes. Kelsea was just waiting for Diane to acknowledge what she was saying.

Before she could say anything though, a text tone chimed from her pocket.

"It's Brandon." She said out loud, accidentally letting some excitement slip into her voice.

"Ooooohhh! Brandon..." She teased as she followed her outside, hovering around her like a moth around a flame.

The hallway parted from both sides as the girls walked down the corridor up to their lockers. Girls and boys alike ogled as they swiftly walked passed them.

"OMG! it's Diane Wood-Anderson."

"It's the girl on TV last night!"

"The girl with the celebrity fathers!"

Whispers emerged from the crowd that huddled up around them, but didn't dare come near them. They knew better.

Brandon (7:30AM): Babe where r u????

Me (7:30AM): Near my locker

Brandon(7:31AM): K wait up I'm coming

Me (7:31AM): Ok. Hurry up

She put her phone back in her pocket as she started placing all her books neatly into her locker.

"So... Have you guys like...done it yet?" Kelsea asks, batting her eyes innocently.

The question completely threw her off. Surprisingly Brandon had never pressurized her into doing anything like the other guys. He said he was okay with taking things slow, which she was secretly relieved about at first but now she was starting to get worried he didn't like her or something.

They had been dating for 3 months already but they had only ever made out in the boys locker room twice or thrice and occasionally gave each other small pecks.

"Not yet." She pursed her lips as she continued stacking things into her locker.

"Oh... So you haven't sealed the deal?" the girl asked a little too chirpily. She didn't even try to hide the smirk on her face.

"But," she added quickly, "We were talking about doing it pretty soon. He wants to make it special for me, so he's booking us a week-end get away to Italy in his dad's 5 star hotel."

"Wow! How cute! My first time was in the janitors closet, Jake has literally no class." She rambled, back to her normal self.

"Your guy's a catch, don't let him go."

It may have seemed to the world that she was actually happy for her but to Diane she might as well have said "Watch you back, he won't be yours for long."

That vixen had her eyes on Brandon since Day 1. She had her eyes on her throne, after all she was the Queen Bee before Diane came along. That's why she always had to be careful around the girl, if Diane lost her focus for even one moment, Kelsea would not think twice before stabbing her in the back.

"Not planning to any time soon." She replied curtly with an stern expression on her face. The cheerleader got the veiled threat and dropped the subject. For now.

Suddenly a pair of large, warm hands wrapped themselves around her eyes, "Guess who?"

"Don't you think that's getting a bit old Brandon?" Diane giggled, not too little as to sound uninterested, but not too loud as to sound breathless, just the perfect amount.

"Never fails to cheer you up." He smirked as she rolled her eyes, "Anyway, you done grabbin' your things? I'll walk you to class."

"Hey Brandon..." Kelsea purred, lightly touching his arm to grab his attention. "Don't forget that I'm here too."

"Hi Kelsea." Brandon answered barely paying her any attention.

"You're on the other side of school, you don't have to walk me to class. You'll get late." Diane ignored Kelsea completely, enjoying the irritated look on her face more than she thought she would.

"It's fine, it's not like my attendance could go lower than it already is." The tall, quarter-back laughed. He continuously ran his fingers through his platinum blonde hair, staring at himself in the mirror of his girlfriend's locker.

"Let's go then." Diane grabbed his hand and walked straight past Kelsea, not missing the way she glared at them as they left.

"Oh yeah," She turned around, "Don't bother coming to cheer practice today. You're not needed this week."

A not so subtle warning.

Without waiting for a response, she walked to class with her boyfriend.
