Emmy sat by her cousin's side as he aggressively shot the cops on the screen. She sat in a lazy cobbler's position, leaned back against the couch with her phone on her stomach.

"Don't you think you're going a bit overboard?" She mumbled and glanced over at Oscar. "You're gonna break the controller..."

She had just moved to the town since her parents wanted to live closer to family after Oscar was allegedly attacked on the street. Something about having family around supposedly made the neighbourhood feel safer. Therefore Emmy was seated on her cousin Oscar's couch as he took his anger out on digital cops.

"You fucking suck at this..." She laughed as Oscar was killed with a headshot on the screen.

"Fuck off..." He growled.

"You're using the wrong gun too... I know you think you look all badass with the AK47 but you should probably get some distance between yourself and the enemy since they have assault rifles too... You bought that PKM after the last mission, right?" Oscar nodded and pressed replay. "Use the PKM instead..."

Emmy observed as Oscar took her advise, switching to the PKM and laying down in a well-hidden area, waiting to ambush the digital police officers who were there to stop the heist.

"You got any grenades?"

"Of course I do..." he grumbled.

"Well, then fucking use em..."

After another failure and thirty minutes, Oscar finished the mission and won a trophy. He shot his cousin a glare and sighed.

"What?" I growled at him.

"You're not supposed to be better than me at video games..."

"Why? Cause I'm a girl?"

"No, but because I'm the older one..." He sulked while Emmy laughed at his childish nature.

"You might be older but I'm the smart one..." She stuck her tongue out and he mimicked the gesture. "Plus... your reaction time is too slow... you're weak... you run headfirst into fights that you can't win... you're pathetic and arrogant..."

"What does this have to do with gaming?" He scoffed.

"It doesn't..." Emmy said in a monotonous voice. Her eyes were empty again and Oscar shivered as he looked at her. "I'm talking about those bruises you've got... they might be fading but they're still visible, you know..."

They were alone in the house. Oscar's parents were out and Emmy's parents were visiting their new workplaces. Oscar thought the silence was dreadful while Emmy soaked in his discomfort. She couldn't help but smile to herself as he gritted his teeth.

"Who hurt you?" Emmy whispered in his ear. Oscar swallowed and looked up at his younger cousin's crooked grin. He shivered. They'd been good friends since they were kids but Emmy always gave Oscar the chills. She wasn't sane and she was fully aware of it, perhaps even proud.

"His name is Brannon Begum..." Oscar stuttered, almost choking on the words as he tried to calm down with Emmy so close to him.

"Does he go to your school?" She clicked her tongue close to his ear and he let out a breath of discomfort before gently pushing her back to her part of the couch.

"Y-Yeah..." he choked out.

"I'm gonna go get snacks!" She suddenly exclaimed and skipped up the stairs, leaving Oscar alone in the basement.

He took a deep breath. Emmy sure was special. She acted all innocent and sweet but Oscar knew what she was capable of.

...
"I'm starting at your school..." Emmy said sternly in her usual monotone voice. She had her curly hair in a fluffy bun on her head while she wore a skin-tight turtle neck with a pair of jeans. She looked relatively normal for someone who didn't understand human emotions.
