Scott
An angel came to me yesterday while I was in the nurse's office. She had the most eerie set of silvery grey eyes I've ever seen. They complement her smooth dark skin and raven black hair that seemed as light and silky as it could possibly get. She's probably the best quarter back I've ever laid eyes upon. What I still didn't understand was why she punched me right in my face even though I wore a helmet. I still can't believe it, but the dent in my helmet said otherwise. Who knew a girl could knock a guy out with one punch? Through a fucking helmet?
"Scott?" My little sister, Novia, wiped her nose on the sleeves of her Disney pajamas. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, just a little accident," I lied with a chuckle.
"But dad warned you about playing without a helmet," she sniffed.
"Yeah, I know. I already apologized," I sighed, getting up from my bed to head to the bathroom for a shower.
As usual, Maya was inside, but this time she came out before I could knock. She seemed shaken, which surprised me.
"What the hell happened to you," she questioned, observing the band aid on my nose and probably the purple of a bruise around my eye.
"Accident," I answered, hurrying to get pass her.
I was about to ask her the same thing but she was already on her way to her room. The black mustang was in the parking lot again which meant Corey was already here. Why was I even looking for her? Shit, who wouldn't? As usual, she was in full black. I noticed she doesn't wear make up like the other girls and she almost always wears a leather jacket and biker gloves. I also noticed that she's left handed. Another girl wearing circular glasses and pink pigtails was trailing her. She said nothing to the girl as they walked and I couldn't read the blank expression she always sported. Yesterday, I found out she wore braces with diamond studs on them. Maybe she isn't all that perfect after all.
There was a huge commotion in the school halls that drew my attention. Everyone was circled around...Maya and her friends? As I got closer, I realized that the girl with the pink pigtails on the ground holding her cheek and sobbing so hard her entire body shook, was the same dork I saw trailing Corey earlier.
"Where's your silly friend now?" Maya laughed triumphantly, but even then, I watched her eyes search the crowd with every move she made. This just keeps getting weirder. (Dude, your sister was always a weird lil' shit.) Not listening to you, Eros. (Be right back.) This is usually Maya on a daily basis so I was about to leave anyway but before I could, I saw that girl again. It was quick and I know Maya is my sister but that freaking girl gave me a black eye through my helmet with her bare fist. I know what she's capable of! Before I know it, Maya was against a locker turning blue from the lack of air as the new girl pressed her forearm deeper into her throat, lifting her from the ground. Either this chic got some serious strength or Maya is as light as a feather.
"I warned you," she said in such a calm voice that I wonder if she was human at all. Usually, anger would be present or at least a little rage, but nothing? She's too calm for this scene and its bothering the crap out of me. (What did I miss?) Where the hell were you? (Busy...oooh, I like this picture. Aren't you gonna help?) Remember my dented helmet? I love my life,Eros, and it looks like this girl, no matter how hot she is, looks like she can take my life without a care in the world and be so fucking calm about it. (Can't argue with you there. I like living too.) When dad came out to intervene, Corey was nowhere to be found. She had simply mixed in with the dispersing crowd while Maya coughed her life away on the ground, trying to catch her breath. Her friends didn't even try to help her until Corey left. Maybe they know something I don't know. That's possibly why Maya has been so shaken all the time. (Sucks to be the principal's kid.) Don't be ridiculous. It has its perks. My only problem now is that my sister is half dead because she got a taste of her own medicine. (And that's your problem, how?) She's my sister, Eros. We're blood related. (Don't you have a match tomorrow?) Yeah, why? (She's the QB on your team. So you'll get to see her again.) No! I'm keeping my distance. (Stop being a pussy.) Shut up already.
