Type: Realistic fiction"Timothy, shut up and go to sleep now," I called to my little seven-year-old brother while laughing.
"Ugh, I don't want to it's Monday tomorrow and I have school. Besides, no one likes Mondays," he said, walking straight into my room and slouching on the bed.
Eventually I managed to set him off to sleep by being forced by our mom to read him a bedtime story. Luckily he fell asleep sooner than I thought, but I had to brighten our lamp a lot as my little brother was scared of the dark.
It gently began to rain as I crept over quietly and dimmed the lamp almost to an extent where it was almost pitch black. After brushing my teeth, I changed my clothes and got into bed; desperate for some shuteye.
It was as though the imaginary genie I'd been talking to had granted all three of my wishes; one to be able to go to sleep comfortably, two not to be disturbed and three to have sweet dreams of unicorns and rainbows. - 'Kay the third one was more of a joke, but regardless it still happened strangely.
All until I awoke in the middle of the night - and against my will too.
My eyes jolted open as I felt as though someone had pushed me out of a warm and cosy jet and into the freezing skies of snowy Antarctica. My bedroom was freezing and the rain outside had now turned into heavy ice-like hailstone.
I tried to get up to get a refreshing glass of water but couldn't move.
What the-?
I tried again thinking it was just lazy me at it again, but still, I couldn't move, not even slightly.
What's wrong with me? Why can't I get up?!
I started to panic and tried to scream for help but nothing more than a mere murmur managed to escape my pitiful helpless mouth. My once black-canary-like scream was now being silenced and I didn't know why!
Although I was silent and still on the outside, I was freaking out on he inside.
I wanted to scream; 'HELP ME SOMEONE' but couldn't. It was as though something had grabbed my windpipe and wouldn't let go.
It was then when reality struck me like a bolt of lightning. I was stuck...stuck in sleep paralysis.
I had heard about this on the media and the internet and from my friend even at one point, but never thought that one day it'd happen to me. I'd never been under sleep paralysis before.
I looked around the room, but the only thing that happened was he hail outside as it got louder like and endless rain of merciless ice falling from the sky, vengeful pieces of cold, merciless and noisy, destroyers of peace were they. And then suddenly, the atmosphere, everything around me grew colder...and darker.
My lamp had suddenly died out and I began to sweat in panic.
All I could do was watch in fear as darkness fell.
No...no....no, please, no....
Now I knew why everyone was so afraid of he dark. Darkness brought mystery, and mystery could be anything - the scariest of things your imagination could possibly brew up!
My cold blue eyes widened as I felt and saw a long, bony, slender dark hand reach out towards me and grab my neck.
"What a pretty voice you had," it spoke. "It's mine now, darling," it said bone-chillingly, as I tried my best to scream but all it did was strangle my neck harder, as my face grew red with pain.
Let go...need...oxygen...STOP!
But that voice inside of me was silenced when my mom had burst into the room instantly running on the lights and looking around until her eyes met with mine.
"I thought I heard a whisper..." she said, looking around my room carefully as the demon vanished as soon as she'd flickered the light back on. I ran over to her and hugged her, relieved.
"You wouldn't believe what just happened," I said, but as my dad entered the room he slowly, grimly pointed to my sleeping brother, who lay there still, trying his best to move, his eyes wide open.
