Chapter Eight: When The Snow Falls, So Too Do The Bandages

They were falling, falling into the Nugget Cave. Felix felt the sinking feeling and tried to scream, only for Nugget to shove his face into his chest.

"Are you insane?!" Felix yelled, "we are going to fall to our bloody deaths!"

"Don't scream. Nugget and his Soulmate will survive." Nugget replied back as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"How the HELL are we going to SURVIVE?!"

"Nugget said not to scream. And there are landing measures in place to guarantee survival, calm yourself."

Just a moment after Nugget had said that they had stopped falling and landed safely in the cushion of nuggets. Nugget stood up and walked over to the living area, only to realize that Felix was clinging tightly to his chest. "Is Nugget's Soulmate alright?"

"You said we would live."

"Nugget did not lie, both him and his soulmate are alive."

"Then why are you asking me if I'm okay?!"

"Nugget meant emotionally."

"I thought I was going to DIE."

Nugget placed Felix back on the bed, with some difficulty since Felix wouldn't let go of him at first. Nugget turned on the Cave's lighting system and pulled out a first aid kit. This time however, Felix didn't put up a fight about pulling his shirt being pulled off. Nugget grabbed the end of the old bandage and pulled-

"Ow! Hey! That hurts!"

"Nugget imagines it does, he is quite literally pulling a bandaid off."

Nugget tried again but didn't make much progress before Felix pulled away again, Nugget sighed.

"Look, does Nugget's Soulmate want it pulled off quickly or slowly?"

"Slo-"

Nugget took the moment to rip all the bandages off quickly, Felix winced and screamed. Nugget turned away to grab some peroxide and some more bandages, but when he turned back Felix wouldn't face him.

"Nugget is sorry for betraying his soulmate."

"That......really hurt." Felix pouted.

"Nugget said he was sorry, you'll feel better when Nugget is finished."

Felix still wouldn't come closer but eventually sighed and hesitantly place his arm in Nugget's hand. The rest went pretty smoothly, and soon Felix put his shirt back on and fell backwards into the bed.

"Nugget will be back." He walked off in a direction and metallic sounds could be heard. Felix shivered and decided to get under the covers and still shivered anyway. It was so cold down there, but the sound of something blazed to life and the Nugget Cave got warmer.

Nugget walked back towards the bed, placed a blanket and left to the other side of the room. Felix grabbed the blanket and wrapped around himself and looked over at Nugget doing the same on a beanbag chair.

"You're just going to give me the bed?"

"Yes."

"Why would you do that?"

"Nugget would rather his soulmate be comfortable."

"But, it's so big, there can be a space for you too."

"Nugget doesn't want to intrude on his Soulmate's privacy."

Both didn't say anything after that, so Nugget switched the lights off. Three hours had passed and Felix couldn't fall asleep. Well, he could, it was soft and warm and nice in the bed, but that exactly wasn't depriving him. Felix had almost fallen asleep several times, but always jolted up with visions and images of past nightmares.

Felix didn't know what to do, it seemed to be a bad idea to wake up Nugget or should he just leave? Not knowing what to do, he just whispered "Nugget." To himself.

"Hm?"

"Oh...did I wake you up?"

"Nugget was awake, what is Felix doing awake?"

Felix didn't really say anything, but there was the soft tapping of footsteps and he felt something sit down.

"I keep seeing things." Felix whispered.

"Are the things really there?"

"I don't think so, but I can't sleep because of it."

"............"

"............"

"Would you like Nugget to stay with his Soulmate?"

Felix sighed a breath of relief, he had said what Felix was too nervous to say. "Yes"

Nugget grabbed the covers and slid under them, Felix could feel Nugget's presence. "Nugget, do you think that they miss me? Do you think that Teddy is worried about me?"

"Nugget believes that his Soulmate's twin worries. But not too much."

"What does that mean? "Not too much?" You just took me out of my.....house? Don't you think he'll be worried when I suddenly disappear?"

"The Idiot Twin saw Nugget removing the bleeding body from the premises."

Felix let out a small chuckle at "idiot twin." He actually missed Teddy, and looked forward to seeing him on Monday. "Nugget? Could you kiss me again?"

"Nugget's Soulmate is just avoiding sleep."

"I actually like them though, they're soft and w-" cut off by a kiss.

"Anything else Nugget's Soulmate would like before sleeping?"

"No, I think that covers everything."

"........."

"........."

"Nugget has an idea," he said as he pulled Felix closer to him.

"What are you doing?"

"Nugget is protecting his Soulmate from the nightmare realm, but technically cuddling."

"I like it."

The pair both drifted off into the night, held in each other's arms.
