THE SKY WAS tangy, and the air felt clean and crisp. Cherry blossoms littered the open greenery, and the sound of distant chirping was peaceful. It was spring.
A blood-curdling scream ripped into the silence.
Izuku Midoriya pressed a heavy foot into the body underneath him. A small smile spread across his freckled cheeks.
The nameless bastard sobbed. "Please, don't make me suffer like this--if you're gonna kill me, then do it!"
Izuku hummed and pressed his foot further. The sharp crack of broken ribs was satisfying. The stranger was now dead.
"That's enough, you psychopath."
Tomura Shigaraki, Izuku's overseer, took a few steps forward, his voice tired. He'd seen this happen way too many times before.
The freckled young man twisted his torso, pressing the heel of his heavy boot into the bleeding corpse further. His expression was blank and he blinked once.
"That's rich, coming from you."
Tomura eyed the body, his lips folding flatly. The metallic scent of blood hit his nostrils, interfering with the previously fresh air.
"Maybe. Anyway, I'm finished here. Let's go."
Izuku wordlessly stepped off of the lifeless flesh, wiping the bloody soles of his boots with the grass under him. He caught up to Shigaraki (who was already heading back to their truck) with ease.
Himiko Toga, a teenage girl with unhinged tendencies, pushed her head through the window forcefully. Her smile was wide, and her voice was chipper, yet somewhat laced with irritation. "Took you long enough!" To Izuku, she said, "How was it, Deku?"
Izuku only shrugged, entering the vehicle. "This one was feisty; told me to hurry up. It was kinda funny, honestly. I wish more people were like that. The screaming is plain annoying."
Toga squinted her eyes. "I don't get you. The screams are the best part!" She turned to Twice, her partner in crime, for confirmation. "Right?"
The man in question nodded immediately. "Right! Shut up."
Dabi, who'd been sitting at the very back, scowled in annoyance. He ran his scarred fingers through his dark hair, his oceanic eyes narrowing.
He seemed to be in a sour mood, as usual. "This is dumb to talk about– they're gonna die either way."
As Himiko muttered complaints of Dabi being 'a stuck up shit' under her breath, the engine started, and the group was being transported back to their hideout. Shigaraki watched the commotion with disinterest.
Izuku eyed the others with a feeling of warmth. He had a family. An unlikely group of fuck ups, but a family nonetheless.
