I'VE BEEN TOLD life wasn't for me, so I've tried to die.

I've withered and I've gotten rotten.

I don't know how to be human anymore.

"What?"

"You heard me," Izuku smiled, radiating nonchalance. It irritated Shoto.

"Is your head screwed on straight?" Todoroki gritted his teeth. "Why the hell would you ask me that? And why do you think I'll comply?"

Izuku's smile faltered a bit, for only a nanosecond. "I... I'll make you comply. I'll kill every last person you love. I'll kill every person you make contact with. I can start right now, if you'd like."

"That won't happen," Shoto snapped, making sure to keep his voice down. He narrowed his eyes. "You clearly underestimate heroes. Even if you manage to kill me somehow, someone else will put you down."

"And how many people will die before then?"

Todoroki gritted his teeth. "You fucking–"

Izuku stifled a chuckle. "You're being so serious about this. Anyhow, I won't kill you. I need you."

"Don't talk like that," Todoroki furrowed his brows, his frown deepening. "You're smart enough to know that I won't want any part of you."

Midoriya smiled sheepishly. "C'mon, don't be like that."

He looked through the nearby window for a second, observing the peaceful bit of the outdoors. The birds were chirping, and people went about their lives with ignorant ease. Izuku pursed his lips. He then spoke up again, and this time his voice and words seemed to be less practiced. "I have something that I am meant to do. I want you to help with that, not only as a soulmate, but as a human being."

Inhaling deeply, he returned his gaze to the hero before him. Shoto frowned contemplatively, his curiosity growing.

"What are you going on about? You're not making any sense."

Izuku hummed, easing out of his seat. He ran his delicate hands over the material of his kimono, straightening it. "Maybe."

He eyed Shoto, his cute smile contrasting heavily with the dead, toxic glow of his eyes. "I have to go. Don't go forgetting me now, okay? When I need you, I'll let you know."

"What does that even mean–?"

He headed towards the entrance, his ivory legs glowing in the sunlight that leaked from outside. Todoroki stood up abruptly.

"If you think I'm letting you get away–"

Izuku turned his head, just a little. "You will, and you know that. It's okay to not be so uptight, you know." He chuckled a little. "I go by Deku, by the way."

And with that, the villain dissapeared into thin air, leaving behind a faint trace of gold and green glitter.

Several days passed.

Shoto sat comfortably on his couch in his spacious living room, his eyelids lowering tiredly. The television was on, only serving as a means to fill the space with background noise.

His cellphone rang. After a few seconds, Shoto grumpily grabbed the device, his eyes squinting at the private number in suspicion.

His thumb hovered over the screen as he hesitated. The wiser decision would've been to ignore the clearly suspicious call, but he decided to ignore rationality for now. He swiped the screen and placed the phone at his ear.
