When Magnolia returned to normal when red lights beamed across town, you realized that Gray was no longer in the room. While the lights blinded everyone, you decided to follow Gray's scent. While everyone was distracted, you would've crashed into every furniture in the way if you hadn't used the wall for support.

Once you walked out of the house, you lifted your arm to shield your eyes from the lights. You began your walk to the guild as you followed after Gray's scent, determined to find him and make sure he wouldn't get himself into trouble. Even when the lights were blinding you, all you could do was rely on your sense of smell to track down Gray-- You were hoping he wouldn't do anything stupid to try to be the hero.

As your legs grew tired from running and jumping over collapsed buildings, you looked at the guild you left a year ago. As soon as you walked towards the door, you caught both Zeref and Gray's scent. When you felt a lump in your throat, you reached out your hand to open the door until you stopped yourself to hear their conversation. You weren't sure if you should interrupt them or let them be.

If you let them be, you knew Zeref would kill Gray either way if you decided to leave them alone. After all, Gray was somewhat the reason you left Magnolia to go to Tenrou Island in the first place. "Knowing your enemy is a basic principle of war." You heard Zeref speak as he began to describe who Team Natsu was, including Lucy.

"We know nothing about you. What is your real goal?" As you listened to Gray's question, you knew why Zeref was here in Magnolia in the first place. Zeref needed enough magic to defeat Acnologia himself-- as if he wasn't powerful enough, power had already corrupted him.

You saw the signs of his hunger for power, yet you ignored it and brushed it off when you knew this was going to happen eventually. At first, you refused to believe Christa when she told you that Zeref was planning on declaring war on your home when you knew it was the truth. You refused to accept the face the man you loved changed because he desired unlimited power to deny humanity, just as humankind rejected him.

Even when you had enough power to defeat Zeref himself, you didn't want to fight him. You didn't want any of this to happen. You didn't want this damn war to happen when you knew you should've done more to prevent both sides from fighting. "I want Mavis's magic power. You want to protect Mavis. Isn't that enough?" That was enough for you to open the doors for the two men to look in your direction.

"That's enough."

Both of them were surprised by the way your tone lowered as you furrowed your eyebrows. Hell, even the look in your eyes scared Gray slightly when you had your eyes set on Zeref. "Y/n, how did you find me?" Gray asked, but you didn't respond to his question since you and Zeref were staring at each other.

"Don't look at me like that, Y/n. I am curious about what you are planning to do. I wonder if you will finally use your dragon force, or you will defeat me with the magic you already have."

Zeref sighed before resting his chin in the palm of his hand, tilting his head slightly. "Now's not the time to ask questions, Gray. Leave now. This is between Zeref and me." You looked over to Gray when he was shocked by your request. Even when Gray was stubborn to leave you alone, you knew he wouldn't even leave you alone with his enemy. You decided Zeref would be the last opponent you would face, so you figured you would negotiate with him instead of attacking. After all, you didn't want to fight Zeref, as much as he was getting on your nerves.
