Nothing yesterday, nothing today and probably nothing tomorrow... what a boring journey.
The duke was on the deck, looking at the ocean, the noises of sea and birds are pretty delightful but they get annoying when you have to listen to such thing for an entire trip from Neatherlands to Joseon... however, he was looking at the ocean, his butler David was basically staring at him...
"What are you thinking about your Highness?" David asked politely, the butler was now looking at the dark blue ribbon that the duke was keeping in his hands.
"Nothing actually..." the duke said, why was he so mysterious about it? since the departure he kept that ribbon in his hands, each day he was looking at the ocean like trying to find something... or better... someone...
"Your highness... what are we going to do when we will arrive in Hanseong?" David asked the nobleman in front of him.
"Are you afraid that you'll starve? Keep calm, we have enough gold to buy a whole kingdom! By the way, I already sent a letter to the chief of the dutch east india company there, he answered back that we are welcome there and that the queen will even offer us a place to live... are you calm now?" the duke answered, just a moment before he was sad, almost melancholic... now he was smirking to his young butler.
Yes, his butler was really young, he was 18 years old when he became the duke's butler, a few weeks later they decided to leave France to reach Joseon... what lead them to that choice? well... revolutionary France isn't the perfect place to live... especially if you are a nobleman... especially if you are... or better... you were an officer of the swiss guard but we will talk about this later.
A few more days passed and finally the duke and David reached Hanseong.
"May I ask you your name Sir?" there were a few guards at the gate of the city and it was normal that they had to ask who was going to enter this important place.
"I'm Maurice Duke de Nemours, he's my butler David, if you don't want to let us enter ask her Majesty the queen, she invited us" Maurice answered calmly and confidentially.
"S...sorry your highness, HEY YOU THERE, OPEN THE GATES" the guard made his apology and the shouted to anothe guard... maybe they should try a method that doesn't involve an earrape but it works so it's ok.
"David, the servants are already preparing our rooms so why don't we go for a walk and visit the city?" Maurice asked. He really looked different, when he was in France he seemed always terribly sad because of what happend to his... well... let's say friend... then you'll understand better.
"Sure!" David answered, he looked so exited like a boy in a candy shop.
"David... remember that even if I'm only 19 Years old doesn't mean that you're allowed to avoid Your Highness clear?" the duke added with a really serious face.
"sorry your highness" David was really sorry, he even looked like he was about to cry, even for a silly thing like this.
"oh no, don't cry, you know that I cannot stand you cry... you'll make me sad... come on I was kidding... you know that I like you and I don't want you to get hurt..." now the one who seemed sorry was Maurice.
"... well... buy me food and I'll forgive you" David said pointing to a little restaurant.
"you little shi...ok ... I'm hungry too" as Maurice said it they went into the restaurant, it smelled good, an intersting and rich flavour was going out from the kitchen, everythin looked so clean and tasteful.
They ate, then they continued their tour of the city when suddenly an officer of the dutch east india company arrived.
"your highness... I was looking for you thrugh the whole town... there's something... important..." the officer said. He looked tired and sweaty, probably he wasn't lying when he said that he looked for them in the whole city.
"Sit down and tell me what happened... is my gold lost? Did you break my furniture? oh... you forgot to take my pictures right?" the duke said to the officer,
"no your highness, your properties are ok, there's a man who is searching you, he said that you have to go with him and meet the queen" the officer answered.
"... why haven't you said it in the first place!?" the duke yelled to the officer. He grabbed the hand of his butler to run until they reached the building of the company.
"Finally... so where is the man who was looking for me? Couldn't he simply send a letter like normal people?" the duke said smirking but that smirk wouldn't last long.
"your highness, your guest is waiting in your room and I forgot to say that your rooms are ready" another officer said.
"Good, i'm really curious to meet this guest" Maurice said.
The duke, the officer and David walked until they arrived at the room. The guest was looking the books on the shelves, as they entered only his back and his long black hair were visible.
"so, you're the one who couldn't send a letter before arriving?" the duke asked, before any answer could be said, the mysterious officer turned, a white and blue uniform covered his body.
"I'm sorry your Highness but the Queen ordered me to come as soon as possible, my name is Dan Sae and I'll be your orderly" Dan Sae answered seriously but nicely
"my...orderly?" these were the only word that left the noble mouth of the duke, this is what he said when the smirk on his face disappeard, this is what he said but actually wanted to say
For God's sake thank you that you didn't send a letter... at least my poor eyes can see a fu... really good looking guy and not only some dirty sailors on a ducth ship.
