Chapter 16 Yi Rim

The duke and Dan Sae were in Maurice's office talking about strategies when a soldier arrived with a letter

"this is for you your highness" the soldier said and then went away

General Yi Rim invites you, Maurice Duc de Nemours, to dinner this evening, he hopes that you'll accept

"you shouldn't go your highness, he's a traitor, he's going to ki..." Dan Sae stated worried but got interrupted by Maurice who said

"I'll go, this is a great opporunity and I can't waste it and you can't convince me Dan Sae...however...I'm touched..." in another situation Dan Sae would probably blush, this time the tragedy was about to end

"yes your highness" when Dan Sae replied Yeowool arrived

"Jidwi and Sunwoo are safe now your highness" Yeowool stated

"good, you can go now Yeowool" the duke said ti the last one.

Yeowool reached his own room, Hansung was on the bed waiting for him to come back

"Do you think that Sunwoo and Jidwi will be safe there?" Hansung asked 

"well...safe? yes... comfortable? probably not" Yeowool answered laughing

"imagine Jidwi there!" Hansung replied laughing even more

"yup...Hansung! You shouldn't talk like that when you talk about your Hyung!" Yeowool said seriously

"oh sorry..." Hansung replied

"aww you're so cute when you're sorry" Yeowool said smiling

"Shut up!" Hansung yelled

In the meanwhile... in Sooho country estate 

"how much should we continue work here? I'm tired Sunwoo" Jidwi said sitting near a horse

"if you stopped complaining the first time I ordered it we would probably be in our bed now...and at least here nobody will look for us" Sunwoo replied sweating because of the heat

"but...I'm the king..." Jidwi said

"oh, sorry your majesty, do you want a cup of tea and somne biscuits too?" Sunwoo asked

"well...actually..."

"I was joking...I... was... joking...now clean that damn horse..." Sunwoo ordered

"yeah but Sunwoo..." Jidwi got interrupted

"Shut the fuck up!" Sunwoo yelled

"ok...but at least can I sleep on the bed tonight?" Jidwi asked

"there's only one bed...I will sleep on it" Sunwoo replied

"well, we could sleep together, nobody will know it" jidwi said smirking and coming nearer Sunwoo

"that isn't... a bad idea..." Sunwoo replied

"really?" Jidwi asked coming even nearer

"oh yes..." Sunwoo continued

"wait what are you doing!?" Jidwi shouted

"I can't wait til night sorry"  Sunwoo answered

A few hours later

"Dan Sae'ssi...if I wouldn't come back tonight...take the hwarangs with you and escape in the south of the country" the duke oredered

"I won't...cuz you'll come back...I know it... your highness" the orderly replied

after a few minutes the duke reached the place of the dinner, the general was there waiting for him.

"goodevening  your highness, please have a seat!" Yi Rim said

"Goodevening...oh thank you" the duke replied

"I didn't think that you would have accepted my invitation" general Yi Rim continued

"Why not? I'm flattered general" the duke stated

"well, let's eat something, Eun Ji!" a servant arrived and served them a few plates

"Sir, I'm touched by your hospitality but... probably you didn't invite me only to enjoy a meal together right?" the duke asked drinking his wine the he continued

"I suppose that you invited me to talk about your army that is protecting the borders of our beloved city right?" 

"exactly your highness, probably you think that I'm here to help Do Hyun and his brother to take the power, aren't you?" general Yi Rim said

"well, you're the one who's saying it but...what do you want general?" the duke asked calmly

"you're right, I'm here to protect Hanseong...and the royal family" the general stated

"Really? Come on, don't make me laugh, one of your fellows killed the queen and you want to say that you're here to protect the royal family?" the duke said

"well...it was necessary...but the real king, Jinheung will be protected by me...I'm loyal to my country..." Yi rim answered

"...you...general Yi Rim, with your army you could become the new king of Joseon...so why do you want to remain loyal to the royal family" the duke asked

"your highness, if a military man menages to reach the power and becomes king it means that everyone can do it... the king is a symbol, a general who becomes king  would take away the meaning of this symbol" the general answered 

"good...I trust you...Jidwi is safe, Do hyun is in his room, he tried to rebel against his brother Jae Joon to stop the rebellion but he couldn't reach the target...I will spread the rumor that Jaejoon killed the queen so when you'll enter the city the people will see you as a saviour... " the duke said

"good plan...you can come back to the city now your highness" the duke came back and met Dan Sae who immediately exclaimed

"you're safe" and hugged him

"oh...I'm happy to see you too..." the duke said

"so, how was the dinner" David asked

"well...the general will help us...however we should prepare a second strategy...maybe he's just a liar as everyone else on this earth..."
