—POV•••still Kaden—

The new voice was feminine, definitely, but I didn't recognize it.

"Who are you?", Cora asked.

[lots of dialog here. It's mainly switching between Tal and Kaden.]

"Talwyn Apogee. I'm Max's daughter." A screech echoed through the hallway. "And what was that?"

"That", I responded, "is Ratchet. He... snapped earlier."

"And that means what exactly?"

"Oh, how do I put this?" I turned to Alister. "Al?"

"Ratchet's possessed, in a way", he stated.

Talwyn was silent. "I'm on my way."

I narrowed my eyes, and a dull pain around my left eye started to throb from the blow I took. "That may not be a good idea."

"Why?"

"Have you ever dealt with a snapped lombax before?", I questioned.

"No. Have you?" I could almost hear her crossing her arms and raising her eyebrows.

"Yes. Many." True, for the record. There were many loved ones lost after the Great War, which cause the biggest outbreak of Snapped in centuries. Although, Tachyon may have caused the rest of the lombaxes-besides Alister, me and Ratchet- to Snap and kill each other in the dimension they fled to.

"Oh." She grew quiet again, and I had to hold back a laugh. "Well, I'm already here, so I'm still helping with Ratch."

I shook my head, smiling. I thought I felt something run down the left side of my face. "Fine, but stay there and wait for us to come to you."

"Copy that."

[lots of dialog over for the chapter]

As we neared the hangar, I became confused when I detected a gentle voice. Recognizing it as Talwyn's, my confusion lessened, then dissipated fully when we entered the large room.

With the soft light from her ship illuminating the background, Talwyn was kneeling and holding her left hand out towards Ratchet and speaking comfortingly to my son, who was unsteadily approaching her. I noticed Ratchet's right leg was far thinner than it should be.

Awe built inside me as he pressed his head against her hand. I had never seen someone use this particular method with a snapped lombax before. A moment passed before Ratchet fell forwards, Talwyn immediately catching him and holding him. I ran to them, noting that the left side of my vision was stained red.

When the young Markazian looked at me she let out a small gasp. At first, I had thought it was because I was a lombax, but as she reached out and gingerly touched my left cheek, I found it was worse than that.

It was probably the flash of pain from the area that helped the realization dawn on me.

I was slashed across the eye in the hallway when Ratchet lost control. And by the look on Talwyn's face, it was bad.

Yo, hope you enjoyed this chapter. I don't have anything else to say, except that I've been working on this book a lot lately, so I'll have the next chapter up by the end of the week.

Hopefully.

Probably.

Anywho, see y'all later!
