17. Jeremy

"The 20's, it has it's own distinctive vibe... The jazz was amazing. But there was also a more somber side to it." The soft vibrant voice that distinctives Jeremy begins. "For me and my family the 20's were the best years. Our coven grew with people trying our distinctive choice of feeding... You see in that time, I did still drink human blood." The golden eyed man states. "I just didn't have to kill humans to do so."

Frowning every vampire, the half vampire and two wolf's listen as he continues. "We found a way to survive of blood without hurting a single soul. We raided hospitals of their blood bags. Enough to keep us sustained, but to little to really be noticed." He explains. "You see, I believe that even if in theory you are a monster, you can decide not to do monstrous things." He states looking at the Cullen and Denali clan.

"Wait..." Carlisle inturrups. "You were... Him? The Vampire who build a coven countering the Vultori's?"

A tight lipped smile makes it's way to the darker haired man's face. "That was Aro's accusation, yes. But I didn't ever have the intention to challange the Volturi." He states his silky brittish accent making his sincere word even more serious. "As we were just coming back from a hospital they made an appearance. Aro, Marcus, Caius, Jane, Alec... The whole guard against the ten of us..." He shakes his head remembering that day vividly.

A deep sigh escapes his throat. "We didn't even get a chance to talk, to try and make things right... Jane held me captive in pain while they slaughtered the rest of my family. I saw every single one of them die, and I had no way to help." He shakes his head sadly and I lay a supportive hand on his shoulder. He gives me a tight thankful smile a he goes on. "As I saw them all burning Aro turned to me a scolded Jane to let me go. He read me, even knowing everything was a scam, I at that time thought it was real and genuine. He offered me a place in his guard..." a small smirk makes it's way to his face.

"He worded it as if I was innocent, which I was. And offered me a place in his guard. I refused."

I frown slightly looking at him. "But how're you still here?"

"Because of the way Aro said I was innocent. As I refused he couldn't go back on his words with the witnesses. He was forced to let me go." He explains. "I knew he is still looking for different reasons to come after me, so I turned to animal blood, stayed away from humans and kept to myself. Never giving him even the chance to raise suspicion..." He stops and looks at my sister and Edward followed by the rest of the Cullens. "I can not let the same thing happen to this family. I want to finally stop running."

I feel the sadness lingering in the room and try to lighten the mood. "You're lucky we got all of that because the accent is really distracting." I state making Jeremy crack a smile as I hear the rest of the group quietly chuckle.

"Aunty Van?" I hear a little breakable bell like voice utter. I turn to my niece a the rest keep a new lighter conversation.

"What's up little monster?" I questions as I pick her up and settle her on my lap. She looks nervously the Jeremy who's seated next to me and lays her hand on my cheek.

"Mommy told me that that man is uncle Jazz's mate..." She states through her powers. "Is that true?"

I smile at her as I put my own hand on her cheek. "Yes it is. But you have to keep it secret, okey?" I answer her making her nod. "I will keep it secret aunty." She promises solemnly. I chuckle lightly attracting the attention of said man.

"What are you two snickering about?" He questions with a slight, loving smirk. Already captivated by the little monsters aura.

Ree's eyes widen before she snicker at him and runs off to her mother. "What a devilish little thing." He mutters smiling.

I shrug. "She gets that from her mom." I state making Bella look up sceptically. "You mean she gets it from her aunt." She states with a raised eyebrow.

I gasp and look at her wide eyed. "That is not true. Rose would never teach her such things." I state a serious a I can. The blonde looks up at the mention of her name frowning as she wasn't following the conversation. "Right Rose?"

Right as she is about to give a clueless answer Jacob jumps in. "I would say she gets it from you and Emmett." He shrugs before turning to the girl herself making her nod her head.

"Hey!" I call out to the girl with a pout. She shrugs with a smile and goes to play with Jacob. I turn back to Jeremy who's laughing his ass of beside me.

"I believe there's no doubt in the fact that you have that influence on the girl." He states chuckling away. I grumble a little hiding the smile at the fact that a light hearted mood has taken over from the saddened dark mood that hung in the air earlier. Edward smiles at me knowingly before block of my thoughts again sticking my tongue out at him.

I know, this chapter is way too short. I'm sorry. I thought you all could get to know Jeremy a little.

The story is coming to a close and more chapters will come, I promise. I'm working on the next one already but I never really got the chance to tell you Jeremy's story. That's why this chapter is here. Giving you some time to bond with Jeremy is kinda important because he will get to play a big part now that he's here.

Thank you for being patient with me . I know I'm taking long in publishing new chapters and I am sorry about that.
