Chapter 27

the group looked around and saw that they were in a palace.

"where are we?" Ryou asked looking around curiously.

"Inside the palace" Atem replied as he looked around.

"whoa neat" Joey said as he looked around taking in the scene. He looked over as Mahad walked into view.

"whoa! is that...Dark magician!" Tristan said in shock.

"his name is Mahad" Atem replied as he watched Christine turn the corner and bump right into him.

"My lady!" Mahad said looking surprised, but the surprise turned to a look of concern. "what is wrong?" he asked.

"the pharaoh!" Christine said looking distraught.

"Another argument my lady?" Mahad asked with a sigh.

"No" Christine replied shaking her head. "this time it is not about her." she replied. "he...he is not well. I believe it to be the effects of going into the shadows" she explained. Mahad's eyes widened.

Tea, Joey, and Tristan looked over at Atem as Yugi appeared beside him.

"what did you go into the shadows for?" Ryou asked.

"i am not sure" Atem replied watching the scene in front of them.

"is there anything you need my lady?" Mahad asked watching her concerned.

"I...may need some fresh herbs. I feel a slight fever coming on...but other than that, I am fine...and i can get the herbs my self" Christine added shaking her head a little.

"I can get the herbs. you need rest" Mahad said quickly and reassuringly.

"The pharaoh needs me right now" christine started to say, but stopped her self as an older man turned the corner and was walking towards them. Christine tensed up.

"Aknadin!" Mahad said looking surprised.

"is everything ok?" Aknadin asked ask he walked up sending a glare at Christine.

"whoa talk about cold" Joey said seeing the glare.

"that is the man that Christine doesn't like" Atem said thoughtfully.

"what did he do?" Yugi asked looking over at Atem who sighed and shook his head.

"Everything has been quiet so far" Mahad replied.

"good, keep it that way" aknadin said as he walked away.

The scene morphed and changed, they were still inside the palace, but they were in a different part of the palace.

A young girl with white hair. Christine when she was younger and running down the hallway. as she passed them, they could see blood all over her back, however she was stopped as she ran into a young boy with spiky multi colored hair.

"Hey....is that you?" Yugi asked looking at Atem who only nodded.

Christine looked up at the prince with a fearful expression and then looked back hearing the guards getting closer. The prince looked at her and then down the hall way.

"in here, Quickly" the prince said as he reached over grabbing hold of her hand and pulled her into a room before shutting the door behind them. Christine gasped out as she stumbled over onto the floor while the group followed them into the room.

As they got closer they were able to see that the cause of the blood was lash marks from a whip. she was covered in dirt and blood. all that was on her was a piece of cloth that wrapped around her top and another that wrapped around her waist like a skirt. none of which covered very much skin. the top cloth was hanging on by small threads from the lashings.
