the exit of a great leader (6/10)

Rose and Jay are listening to their first recording of the song through shared earphones. Sitting across each other, they had to lean over the table to be able to listen carefully. 

As Rose was listening intently, her head stopped as she caught sight of a running June coming towards them. Why is he here? What the heck? Why why why? Rose's mind screamed.

Jay saw the panic in her eyes and looked behind him. There was June, trying not to pant as he entered the cafe. After exchanging a friendly hello to Jay's sister by the counter, he gave Jay a brief glare that even Rose didn't notice it. But Jay did. Message received.

Jay cleared his throat and put away the earphones. Noisily (as they were the only people in the cafe), June dragged a seat beside Jay.

"What's up?" he said almost too cheerily. 

Rose gave him a shy smile. "Hello, June-oppa. We're doing great! The song sounds good."

June turned and smiled at Jay. "How are you, hyung?"

"Fine."

"All right, let's cut to the chase," June said with a hiss. "Why did you invite Rose here knowing full well that people might see you?"

Rose's eyes grew as large as a chipmunk's. "What are you doing?" she whispered fiercely. "Our managers - !"

"Are stationed outside so no one can go near here and make a tabloid issue," Jay said calmly. 

"You know that that doesn't guarantee Dispatch security! God, hyung, sometimes you can be too-"

"What? Too what?" Jay said, starting to get annoyed.

"Full of yourself!" June hissed louder. "Why are you doing this? To torment me? To make me regret my decision of staying with Rose and putting iKON at risk? Because believe me, our conversation that  night made it clear you won't ever give me your support, so why go the extra length to do this?"

"Do what? What am I doing, exactly?" Jay hissed back. 

"Taking someone else's girlfriend outside for coffee!" June shouted.

Rose and Jay stared at him, both surprised and a little bit scared on his outburst. Jay's sister on the counter stopped washing dishes and disappeared in the kitchen.

"June..." Rose said quietly. "I appreciate you being worried, but we're not doing anything wrong."

June looked at her tenderly. "You're not doing anything wrong, Rose, but I know HE-" he pointed at Jay aggressively "-is up to something and I don't like it."

"Stop being disrespectful," Jay said in a low growl. "I have no intentions of stealing your girlfriend. Don't you trust her? It's not like I asked her to go our for drinks; we're having coffee, for goodness' sake! And don't you ever - "

Jay shut his mouth when he saw his manager entered the cafe worriedly. The manager seldom shows emotions, but only iKON members know when something's up. Even Rose was surprised at June and Jay's reactions when they saw him entering. He looked normal to her. 

"What's wrong?" Jay asked immediately. 

"We have to go back to your apartment at once."

"Did something happen?" June said. 

"Yes - something big. Again."

"Is this about Seungri-oppa's case?" Rose interjected. 

"No," the manager answered with a sigh. "You better come with us too, Rose. We've been instructed to keep all artists inside their homes."
