Rose snapped back to reality when she heard the scream. "What's happening?" she thought, still in a daze.
It was Jisoo approaching her. "The director called us twice already. We're about to do the soundcheck!"
Rose looked around her. How long has she been staring at that dark spot on the wall? Why on earth did it remind her of June? "Oh, right," she said quietly. "Let's go."
Jisoo held out her hand. Rose took it gratefully and let herself be dragged to backstage. Jennie, who was on standby, saw her face and was immediately concerned.
"What's wrong, Chaeyoung? Are you not feeling well?" she asked as she stroked Rose's hair.
Rose forced a smile and shook her head. "I have a lot on my mind lately."
Lisa heard the conversation and gave her a big hug. "Hey, it's going to be okay. Whatever that is, you're gonna get through it."
"That's why we need to focus on the soundcheck right now," added Jisoo. "The VIPs paid extra for this, so let's give them a good show!"
Rose nodded, forcing a smile again, but this time to hype herself up. Jisoo-unnie is right. We're the only ones standing between YG and destruction. I can't afford to mess up right now.
As they appeared on stage and caught sight of the lightsticks being waved in the air, Rose's mind became clear. Their face-to-face interaction with Blinks is limited, and she wants to make sure she leaves it all on the stage.

After the third soundcheck song, Blackpink was brought backstage again. As soon as Rose got in the waiting room, she collapsed on the sofa with a huge thud.
Lisa ran to her side. "Chaeyoung, eottoke? Are you all right?"
"I'm fine. Just tired," she replied, facing down. "Can you hand me my phone?"
Lisa stood up to do so. "Here you go," she said as she gave it to Rose. "Do you need anything?"
Rose smiled. "Nothing, thank you."
Lisa stepped out of the room, giving Rose the time to check her phone privately. Still no notification from June.
