Michael

Nervous would be an understatement right now. The small square box in my pocket made me aware of what I was about to do.

Looking over and the beautiful girl sitting beside me, the fairy lights of the setting making it seem like she was glowing. This was the girl from my 16th birthday, and girl friend and girlfriend of 6 years. I smiled at her, shifting and pulling her onto my lap, nuzzling my head into her neck, holding her close. She giggled and snuggled into me, making me smile.

We sat like that for a while, comfortable silence surrounding us. I still hadn't gotten the courage to actually ask her yet, but I'll do it at the end. I promise.

She sighed happily, moving so she was curled up on my lap, humming quietly. I smiled and held her closer, hiding my face in her neck.

Soon enough we decided to was time to go home. She stood up and started packing everything up. While she was facing away from me, I got down on one knee, getting out the box and opening it, clearing my throat. "Baby I have a present for you, made from paper and string."

When she turned around, she dropped her phone onto the grass, hands covering her mouth.

"Harley Marie Walton, you are the love of my life. Ever since we were 16 I've loved you, and you sae that. The look in my eyes gave it away. And slowly but shortly, people started noticing the loving smiles and looks we shared, pointing us out and making our newly found relationship public. I never cared though, I wanted to show you off."

She giggled at that, shaking her and mumbling something along the lines of 'you're such a dork..' Which made me smile wide.

"We've been together for just over 4 years now but I think it's time to make you mine forever. You see, as a kid, all I wanted was love from someone other than my family and friends. I wanted to hold a girl like my dad held mum, to kiss her and share I love you's quietly while the kids bickered over what movie to watch." She laughed at that, shaking her head, her typical reaction. "When I saw you that girl in those dreams suddenly had an appearance, a voice. And from that day on-as cliche as it sounds- I knew you were the only one I wanted. So I made you mine on my 16th birthday, and I don't regret a single thing." She smiled lovingly down at me, reaching out and running a hand through my hair, something I loved. "So, enough of my rambling. Instead I'll get to the point. Harley, I love you so so so much, and I was hoping that you'd become mine and marry me?"

Her eyes were glossy as she began nodding quickly , "yes Michael, I will!"

Standing up quickly, I held her tightly, and didn't plan on letting her go ever.
