The two weeks leading up to the party were somewhat difficult to Jane and Lucille. They were knee-deep in homework, because on one night, there was nothing, and the next, six assignments that had to be handed in the next day. They had to worry about Brittney, and once it seemed she had won this meta-physical war. Or so she thought.

So I suppose I need to tell you, again. Well, you don’t know yourself, do you? Anyway, this happened a couple days after the invitation was handed out... Yes, it happened on a Monday, in fact, which proves to anyone that doesn’t think so that Mondays are just rather terrible. It made Jane and Lucille feel small, unloved, and like that piece of dog poo that sits in the middle of the park that nobody seems to want to pick up.

Actually, that happened, but then another Brittney atrocity.

The day started out all right. Lucille came to school with a large amount of determination, because she was gearing up for the party that Jane had got her involved in. She was a little annoyed at it, because part of her wanted to stay away from Brittney, but the other part was very curious. What would it be like? Would it be awkward? And then the last part of her - 10% part of her, mind you - was a little excited to go. After all, Brittney and her used to be friends... Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad after all, right? Plus Jane would be there if the going got tough. And Jane was an excellent backup.

When Jane came to school, she was tired, wanted a nice chewy lump of caramel and a pillow. The cats has been jumping about on her bed all night.

Brittney was totally into it. She came to school, and it was obvious that she just adored herself that day; just from the way she played with her hair, let her sweater droop “fashionably” on her shoulders, and the way she tugged at her shirt. That was probably because you could see her bra, and whenever she got the chance to show it off as obviously as she could, she was happy. Jane and Lucille were disgusted by the way she flirted with Theodore. Even Michael had noticed, and made some comments.

“Oh Jane!” Luci burst out in a whisper in their third-last period. “I can’t take it! I wanna chop her head off! She’s killing me, she’s being so disgusting.”

Indeed she was. While some people were mulling about, Brittney was taking the chance to spread herself across her desk. She was basically lying on it. Theodore was coming over from talking with Bruce... he was almost there... And she struck up a conversation.

Jane shut her eyes tight.

Lucille pounded the desk in frustration. “She already has a boyfriend, what’s she doing?” she hissed a little louder than she intended.

Michael heard. He got that gleam in his eye that he gets, and both girls were unsure of what to do.

“Hey, Teddy, whatcha doing? Why are you speeding on the highway? That’s gross, man!” he scoffed.

Teddy looked over, rolled his eyes, and said, “No I’m not, I’m spinning on it crazily because I got into an accident!”

This just shows you how bad boys are at making codes.

And how mad Jane and Lucille were.

No, she may NOT do that! they thought. No, she was NOT allowed.

And was it Theodore’s fault? Was it him, or was it really all her? they wondered, because even though I’m the narrator, and I try my best to plan this story, I don’t know whether it was totally her or totally him. It’s probably a mixture. Because, Luci and Jane had reasoned, she talked to him, and started taking his ‘highway’, and he responded. Why he responded, they had no idea, because after a couple years being in his class and having ‘crushes’ on him, they had noticed: flirt with him, he’ll walk away and get bored; he comes flirts with you, he’ll try with all his might to get your attention.
