An Ocean Turned Crimson (A Shingeki No Kyojin Fanfic)

Eighteen: HOLY SHIT! YOU'RE SO OUT OF TUNE!

"Holy crap! She just backchatted." Brad gasps.

"To ranking officers." Dylan facepalms.

"You little shit." Knight growls.

"I hope that you're aware, young one, that insubordination often ends to dishonourable discharge or court martial." Emelda says. She seems to have the patience of a saint. How is she so calm? Especially since she was just in a bloodbath...oh wait, her eyes is twitching in aggravation and she's made a fist with her left hand. Not so calm after all.

"So I think you had either retract your statement or get running." Knight folds his arms.

"WHAT!" Zada's alarmed now. Carley hugs Zada from the side. Both girls are now in the firing line. This is my fault and now my childhood friends are taking the fall. Brad and I lock gazes and nod once.

"I'll get Za'." Brad mutters. Thank God I'm good at lip reading. I make my way toward my friends, freezing upon feeling the cold hard gazes upon them. Scrutiny. I can feel the atmosphere building up. Brad, too has stopped dead in his tracks. He feels it too.

It's like we've just tried to pull the defendant out of a court while the judge and jury are deciding their verdict. It's intense. Carley looks as if she could cry. Zada's gaze is cold but there's no life in her eyes. If they opt to discharge...she'll get that fire back.

Emelda takes a deep breath.

"Who agrees with these defiant trainees? Who thinks that they are right? Who will stand by them in discharge?"

"Discharge." Zada sighs under her breath. Brad makes a step toward me, seizing my wrist and almost dragging me forward to stand my ground with my friends from home.

"Annie! Brad!" Carely lets go of Zada in order to wrap her arms around our necks.

"Annie..." I glance behind me. Dylan's hung his head. He too has made a fist.

I see some of the other refugees shuffling. Ty' shares a glance with Alexis and Gwen before moving closer.
