After spending the morning through to the afternoon with the lady from the market I decided to further explore the town. The streets ere long and almost endless, they all intertwined with each other which sometimes made it confusing to navigate. I spent a few hours sketching the wildlife and the tall tropical trees that grew there. Egypt was beautiful to say the least. Once it started getting cooler I journeyed on until I found what seemed to be some sort of bar or café. They didn't really specify which, perhaps it was both? Who knows.
I sat there reviewing my work so far. I had a good amount of work done, although I was far away from my end goal. I wanted my professors to be proud of my work when I journeyed home, especially after they sent me all this way. Whilst I was flickering through my pages I realised that I had sketched on the back of one. This was going to be an issue. I sat there with my drink as I rewrote that entire page. By the time I had finished I looked up from my work and realised it had begun getting quite dark and I needed to get home fast or I would become lost in the never-ending streets.
A lot of time had passed. I had been stuck in these streets for what seemed like forever. Would I ever find home? This served me right for being so careless and not paying attention to my surroundings. I knew this would happen. I never did have a good sense of direction unfortunately.
Suddenly I saw a flicker of light coming from one of the streets. I decided to investigate. Perhaps it would be a familiar area that I could then navigate from. I squeezed through the narrow buildings until I emerged on a slightly wider road with an oil lamp lighting above a gate. There was a large building inside a fortress of tall stone walls. I turned away from the building and looked up and down the road. I was completely lost and knew it was no use at this point. I had to ask for help.
If the lamp here was freshly lit then surely someone had to be inside right? It was worth a shot at least. I attempted to open the gate. It was locked. The space underneath it between the ground and itself seemed big enough for me to fit through. I knew deep down it was trespassing but I was a lost cause at this rate. I scurried my way underneath the gate and made my way toward the door.
The door was left ajar. Surely someone who left the door open wouldn't be that unsocial... I proceeded to knock on the door. No answer from anyone. "Hello..?" I said, "I'm sorry to bother you and I know it's late, but I'm afraid I'm lost and need some help please ..?". Still no answer. I decided to investigate and entered the building.
The further I got into the building the colder it seemed to get. As I walked down a long corridor I thought I heard a noise so I turned around, but there was nothing there. I continued walking. I felt as though the shadows were watching me. As I took my next step I felt a cold breath on my neck. My eyes widened as I froze. A low voice whispered into my ear "Wryyyyyyyyy"
