We Knew better

Complete darkness, and this...thing...was hunting us. I could hear its claws grating against the metal floors like nails on a chalkboard. Its earsplitting call for assistance. The way it could mimic a voice, "Anderson, I need you!", my Captains voice. I could smell its putrid scent; like a musty basement mixed with cat urine. Then...its breath, rancid like rotting meat left out in the sun. I try not to heave from the hot breath on my cheek, but it knows I am here just like it knew the first crew was.

We knew better but still came anyway.
