I felt cold hands wrap around my chest and yank me backward onto the bed. When I came to, I was in another place. The hands now felt...warm as they slipped away from me. I caught a glimpse of something dark slip out of the room. Something was not right; I was not in my bedroom, but a bedroom that felt vaguely familiar. It was a place that felt cold and damp yet warm at the same time. "What is this? Where am I?" I rose from the bed that I was lying on.

"Welcome, make yourself at home."

"What?" I scoffed and wandered over to the voice.

This shadow-like figure glided from in front of the window to the table nearby. I glanced at the window; it was murky and clouded with handprints. "This is your home now. There is nowhere to run." The voice echoed and sounded distorted at the same time.

"Run?" I asked.

The shadow-like figure rushed up to me, stopping suddenly and roared in my face. Its eyes bloodshot and teeth-gnashing and lips cracked. I felt a sudden chill run up my spine and felt the need to vomit.

"What the fuck!?" I screamed, scrambling away from it, pushing objects out of my way as I ran for the door. I could hear the things maniacal laughter following me, its damp breath on my neck.

Outside, the air was thick and yet thin. I felt as if I were floating with each stride. The trees looked bare and twisted as if they had been set on fire and molded like clay to take their shapes. A thick fog clung to everything, and I could hear the wailing of other people. "Hey!" I ran towards the sound only to find someone curled up in the fetal position on the ground. "Hey? Are you okay?" I reached forward to touch them, and they swatted my hand away, screaming at me, fear written all over its face, though the features were hard to describe.

Laughter erupted behind me; I spun around to see the same shadowy figure. Its bloodshot eyes squinted as it laughed. It rushed past me towards the terrified person, enveloping them in its body. The person screamed and thrashed about, the terror in its voice rising with each passing moment.

It felt as if my heart were racing, but I did not hear it beating. I scowled momentarily and startled at the laughter again. The shadow lurked in front of me, its mouth wide as it grinned menacingly. "Finally figure it out?" It cackled. "Welcome to my world, you will become like them. Eventually." It pointed at the person on the ground.

I looked between the two, "I am not afraid of you."

It laughed again, "Not for long." It jumped for me and surround me in its shadowy form. Terror ripped through me and a scream erupted from my lips.
