Chapter 5: Where's Home?

After seeing that, Akio walks away from the main road, and starts trekking through an alley. Every grain of sand was crunching and chawing beneath his steps. He has his hand on the hilt of his blade through the whole journey. He hears someone scream in the distance. He starts to jog toward the direction of the noise. He reaches a half wall, and crouches to stay out of sight. He peeks over, and sees three thugs standing in front of a defenseless man. The thugs are wearing light metal armor, and they are brandishing wooden clubs.

"Give us the money, you sniveling worm!" The thug in the middle tells him. "I don't have your money! Leave me alone!" The defenseless man replies. The thugs start to laugh. "Looks like I'm gonna have to beat the money out of you." The middle thug says, as he starts to tap his club against his hand. He starts walking towards the man.

A figure jumps from the side of a building, wielding a Naginata, and wearing a black cloak. Akio can't see the figure's face, as he is looking from behind the whole situation.

"Let. Him. Go." The figure says. The thugs turn around. "And who might you be?" The middle thug asks. "The end of your little... Career." The figure says. "You better leave, or I'll bash you along with him." The middle thug replies. "Go ahead. Try it." The figure says. The thug rushes towards the figure, but they deflect the thug's strike. The thug tries again, and the figure grabs the club with their hand. The figure kicks the thug back, and splinters the club into pieces using lightning.

"As I said. Get out of here." The figure commands them. The three thugs run away in fear. The figure takes off her hood, revealing her short hair. Akio stands up, and calls out... "Hey! Who are you?" She then turns around, and stares at him. "Are you also a tournament contestant?" Akio asks. The figure nods at Akio, and straps her Naginata to her back.

"Do you know of a place I could stay?" Akio asks further. "Yes. Follow me." The figure says.
