Lada finally found a place that she loved. Science and math were her favourite subjects. She took art and robotics for her electives. Her grades had never been so high. Her brother had been right, she had been blessed with their fathers brain.

Nickoli could say the same. He didn't have to take core classes. No english, science, math or history. Just dance, martial arts, languages and shooting. He couldn't ask for a better school. They were both happy with their schools. Well almost.

Lada wished she could tell her brother about her days. How she had made a friend. But she couldn't. Nickoli wanted nothing more than to tell his sister about his days either. To confide in her. It was the only thing they wish they had. What they were missing.

Lada had been gifted a leather bound journal during Christmas break the year prior. To mark the first year she did well in school. Nickoli had received one too. They had both agreed to write down everything detail of their days, and would share with each other on their breaks.

Ladas was almost completely filled up by the time Christmas had even arrived. Nickolis was close to empty, he didn't get much time to himself, not like she did. Ladas best friend had turned into more than a friend. By the time Christmas came, she had her very first girlfriend.

Having not come out to her family yet, she was scared to go home. Aliza would be coming with her, to meet her brother. She had red curly hair that she kept short, and brown eyes. To Lada she was everything. Aliza loved the way Lada laughed, and the way she brushed her hair back when she got nervous.

Nickoli had mostly stayed to himself, not wanting to get too close to someone who probably wouldn't last the year. Or get to close to someone who was going to cause a problem. In fact, he was perfectly fine with Lada being his only friend.

Of course, he knew that Lada would probably have tons of friends by now. She was the nicest person anyone would ever come across. He was excited about hearing all about her second year at school. In their fifteen years of life, the only school they'd attended together was primary school, during the years of the blimp.

By the time Christmas break finally arrived, Lada was terrified of her families reaction to Aliza. She was a sweet girl, got on with everyone; but her madame was a Christian woman. A strong one at that. Nickoli didn't really care either way, but he lived to please madame.

Lada told Aliza about these fears, to which she had replied, "don't worry about what they think, if they love you they won't care." Maybe she was right. Lada needed her to be right.

The days leading up to the kids returning home, Rosealina had the whole house prepared. The guest bedroom was made up for Ladas friend. The house smells of peppermint and and Everglade tree. The only thing left to do was decorate the tree. Lada and Nickolis little tradition saved for the night before Christmas.

She met them both at the train station. Lada came in at noon, Nickoli didn't come in until five. She would drop Lada and Aliza off at the house and then would have to turn around and get Nickoli. While this happened, their dinner would rest in the oven, for Lada to take out once she got home.

"I love your home." Aliza said the second they walked inside. "Thank you." Lada replied, smiling at her. She showed her to the guest bedroom and then took dinner out of the oven. "Ham, as usual." she smiled, turning the oven off.

A few hours later, Rosealina and Nickoli returned home. "Nick!" Lada exclaimed, running up and hugging him tightly. "I've missed you." He said, kissing her cheek. "And I you." She smiled, kissing his cheek in return. "Come, dinner is served." Rosealina said, leading them to the dining table.

"So, Aliza, how did you and Lada meet?" Nickoli asked, looking at his sisters friend. "Our Science class actually, was when we first met." Aliza answered, looking at Lada. "But we also have math and history together." Lada added.

"That must be nice." Rosealina said, smiling at the two girls. "Yeah, I enjoy our classes together." Aliza said, looking at Lada. "Me too, though I'm sure our teachers are tired of us." Lada joked. "You two talk all the time I'm guessing?" Nick asked, refilling his plate with salad. "All the time." Aliza answered.

"Uhm, I actually wanted to tell you something madame, Nickoli." Lada blurted out. "Of course child, what is it?" Rosealina asked, looking at the young girl before her. "Me and Aliza are more than friends, we're dating, I'm gay." Lada said, taking a big sip of water. They sat in silence for a long while. Nickoli was the first to reply, "and what if it, we love you no matter."

"Of course Lada, you're our family, Aliza welcome." Rosealina replied without missing a beat.  Lada felt a smile form and tears started rolling down her cheeks. "Oh, child, what is it?" Rosealina asked. "It's just, oh I dreaded telling you out of fear you'd hate me, I love you guys." She said, getting up and hugging them both tightly.
