The way school normally went for the twins was like this. Two months before Lada got out, Nickoli started his summer vacation. Then, two months before Lada went back to school, Nickoli started up again. They normally had a full month together during summer.

This time was different. Lada was out back, hanging up laundry, when a black car pulled into the driveway. The windows were tented, so you couldn't see into them. Confused, Lada went into the house by the back door.

Nickoli and Rosealina were in the front room, talking. Lada could just barely hear them. "You've been assigned a person." Rosealina had said, looking at Nickoli. "I don't want to madame, but they said if I didn't they'd kill Lada." Nickoli replied. Lada covered her hand to her mouth.

"Your mother was assigned our other sister, her twin." Rosealina said, sighing lowly. "What are you talking about?" Nickoli asked. There was a long pause. Lada thought they had left the room. Then, they picked up again. "The Red Room assigned her our sister, Bea, they said if she didn't then they'd kill our whole family." Rosealina repeated.

"They did anyway, however I survived because they didn't know about me." She finished. "Why did they break their promise?" Nickoli asked. "Because, she refused to serve them anymore." Another long pause. Lada wanted so desperately to walk out, to do it for him. He was only fifteen, so was she but he was more important.

"Go on Nickoli, I've been in touch with the Avengers, it shouldn't be too long before they come and recruit you and Lada." Rosealina said, walking over to Nickoli. "Go on, I've lived a good life, watching you two grow up." She replied. Nickoli raised his gun, tears stinging his eyes. "Titi voglio bene zia." He whispered quietly. Lada jumped at the sound of the gunshot.

"Madame!" She called, racing into the room. "Lada?" Nickoli asked, looking up at his sister. "Nickoli, what have you done?" She almost yelled. "I had to, they would've killed you Lada." He cried, dropping the gun. "You could've said no, we could've fled to America, where we were born!" She remarked. "No Lada, they would've found us." He sighed, walking towards her.

"You are my brother, and I love you but you are also a murderer." She said, backing up. "Lada, please." He pleaded. "No Nick, get out." She replied, looking at the ground. "Lada." He replied. "Please." She continued. "Lada, I'm not leaving, I promise not to kill anymore." He said, looking at her.

"No, don't promise that, promise you won't kill anymore good people." She said, giving in. "I promise, I won't kill anymore good people." He repeated. "Good, come we have a burial to do." She said, hugging him.

They buried Rosealina underneath the everglade tree out back. Her favourite spot. "When do you think the Avengers will come?" Nickoli asked, looking at Lada. "I don't know, maybe they won't." She offered.

"No, I believe that they will come." He argued. "Then we need to be ready." She nodded, smiling at him. "Then we will be." He smiled back.
