Book: Coming Back To You
Chapter 2: The Night Of The Comet
Word Count: 2642Thomas quietly walked down the stairs, not wanting to wake his mum up who was passed out of the couch, a bottle of liquor next to her. He sighed and walked over to her, pulling the blanket up to cover her before taking the empty bottle and taking it to the kitchen, throwing it out.
He opened the fridge and sighed when he saw there was hardly any food. He would have to go shopping again. At least there was an apple he could eat for breakfast. He would just buy lunch from the cafeteria. He picked up his bag and the apple, going over to the couch and kissing his mum on the forehead, "bye mum." He whispered.
The only thing she responded with was a soft snore before turning in her sleep away from him. He turned away from her and walked out the front door, throwing his bag on his back and getting on his bike, taking off towards school.
He lived pretty close which was lucky because he rode his bike everyday. Besides, it wasn't to bad getting a look at the scenery he had seen a hundred times before. He soon arrived at school and locked up his bike. He had made the mistake of forgetting once and when he came back, his precious bike was gone and he had to spend his savings to buy a new one.
Jeremy was already waiting for him and he walked over, seeing his expression turn to one of slight annoyance, "I thought you were going to meet me at the hospital to visit Vicki. Where were you?"
Thomas eyes closed in realisation. He had completely forgotten about that. Vicki had been pushed to the back of his mind. "Sorry. I forgot. I don't really have an excuse." He pouted and wrapped his arms around him. "Forgive me?"
Jeremy rolled his eyes and pushed him playfully, "in case you were wondering, she hasn't woken up yet but the doctors said she's going to be fine. She lost a lot of blood."
"I remember." Thomas mumbled, thinking back to all the blood from the night before and shivering.
"You know what's the worst part? I bet Tyler hasn't even gone to see her. How messed up is that?" Jeremy scoffed. "She likes him so much and he could care less about her."
Thomas huffed, "why do you care so much about their relationship? The last I checked they weren't even offical. Sure, Tyler not showing up is kind of a dick move but I don't see how that's any of our business."
"I'm annoyed because she's my friend and she deserves better than him." Jeremy replied, giving him a look as if to say, you better not be jealous.
"Everyone deserves better than Tyler Lockwood." Just as he spoke his name, the boy came walking by with a few girls giggling by his side, a cocky smirk on his face.
