Y/N POV

I'm looking out at the vast forest ahead of me, and all I can think about is the cosmodrome in Old Russia. Soon, I feel Ruby climb up onto my back, and cling onto me.

Ruby: What's Old Russia? Is that a person?

Y/N: Not even close. Old Russia was a location on Earth where the Fallen would mainly be located. The buildings were all abandoned, and taken over by forestry. This scene makes me think of it when I see the forest here. So peaceful, but I know there's some element of danger in it.

I look down, and I see a clearing to the ground.

Ruby: What are you doing?

Y/N: Taking a leap of faith.

I stretched my arms out, and I jumped off the tree. Ruby screams loudly as she clings onto me. Soon enough, I double jump just before we hit the ground, and we landed gently.

Y/N: You can open your eyes now, rosebud.

Ruby: Why would you scare me like that?

Y/N: Because it's fun feeling you clinging onto me for dear life.

She blushes as I say that, and she pummels my back, even though it doesn't hurt me.

Ruby: It's not funny, Y/N. We could've died if you hadn't done that jump thing.

Y/N: I love you too, Ruby.

As she still pummels me, I see a lonely rose at my feet, and I give it to her after I manage to grab her arm. She stops, and she stares at it. Soon, she takes it, and blushes.

Ruby: Thanks, Y/N.

Y/N: Wait, hang on a second.

I take the rose back, and she makes a pouty face at me. I take the rose, and I clip off the thorns, and I give it back to her.

Y/N: There, now it won't hurt. Come on, we should head back.

She jumps onto my back, and we head back to Beacon.

We soon make it back, and I see a fight going on between students. I set Ruby down, and I rush over to them.

Y/N: HEY HEY, BREAK IT UP!!!

Female student: She just started attacking me out of nowhere just because I'm a faunas.

Other student: That's what you get for being an animal, filthy faunas.

I fire a shot into the air, and they all look scared.

Y/N: What makes you think you have the right to assault a student just because of her features? What makes you think she's any less human than you or me? It's this same level of ignorance that makes the White Fang exist. People are so judgmental of others that they don't even get to know the real person. If you were willing to set your differences aside, and maybe... just MAYBE you would actually see that some people, whether faunas or not, we're all the same. Think about that before you judge someone.

I walk over to a tree, and I takes a seat underneath it. I pull out my scroll, and I put on some music.

(I definitely recommend listening to the whole song. Because there is truth behind it.)

Soon, I hear footsteps coming towards me. I look up, and I see Salem.

Y/N: To what do I owe the pleasure?

Salem: May I join you?

I pat the ground beside me, and she sits down.

Salem: Sometimes, I feel my urges coming back to haunt me. I feel like I'm returning to my old self, but I don't want to.

Y/N: You know what you do to help with that?

She looks at me, and I remove my helmet.

Y/N: You burn the ships.

Salem: Excuse me?

Y/N: There's an old story about a captain with a vast fleet of ships. The crew were all wanting to go back to the ships, even though the captain told them that they should go exploring. The ships were comfortable to them. Not livery, but comfortable. So, the captain ordered all the soldiers to him. Soon enough, all of them return to him.

As I explain this, I take my earbuds out, and I choose the song, but I don't play it yet.

Y/N: The captain meets with all the leaders of each ship, and he tells them to go, and burn all the ships. And he says that "we will not go back to the world we knew. We will explore some place new. And we will make it our home."

I tapped the play button, and the song played.

(If you know someone struggling with some addictions, or yourself for that matter, definitely listen to this song. I'm sorry if I get preachy here, but if you or someone else is, help them like you would yourself. Burn all your ships, and start a new and clean life.)

As we listen to this song, I see tears stream down her face, and she leans closer to me. I hum along to the song, and she just breaks down crying. I turn her head into my shoulder, and I hold onto her.

Y/N: I know what it's like to wanna go back to the life you knew. But the truth is, you shouldn't. Salem, the time I've known you, you are an amazing woman. You have a lot of potential, but you're going back to your ships because it's comfortable. You need to burn your ships in life, and don't ever look back.

After a while, she calms down and dries her eyes. I take out a handkerchief, and she wipes her eyes and her nose. I take it back, and I make it dematerialize.

Salem: Anyone ever tell you that you can be a bit preachy at times?

Y/N: Only when I'm speaking the truth. I'm always willing to help you with getting over your past, and help build your future, Salem. You just have to show me where to help you start.
