She dropped my softly on the grass in a perfectly circular clearing. I could feel the wind from her powerful wings fanning my face. I was breathing heavily, not from fear though, never fear. I was exhilarated. I mean, I just flew!

Well, technically I rode in her hands or claws if you will, while she flew, but nonetheless, I felt the wind in my hair and I touched a cloud. Which goes against the laws of the atmosphere as no mere mortal should be able to breathe from that height. I guessed it had something to do with Rio. I felt a presence beside me and peeked from narrowed eyes at Rio. She looked like she just had the time of her life.

"Don't worry pretty boy," she leaned in close to my face, "I won't tell anyone how much you screamed."

Her voice was musical; I'd been enjoying the sound of it so much that I almost missed what she said.

"I did not scream, I merely blew air out of my mouth and it sounded like a scream."

It almost seemed pointless trying to cover it up, that was until I heard her laugh. She was laughing loudly and clutching her sides. Her laugh reminded me of wind chimes, my favorite sound. I felt like taking my phone out and recording her laughing, so when I am sad, I can look back on this moment and know it wasn't a dream.

"I know you have many questions, so this day, I will grant you up to ten." She said it jokingly, but I heard the serious undertone.

"Well, I'll ask the most important question." She wiped her face of all smiles and nodded her head solemnly.

"Are you single?" Did her eye just twitch? I think her eye just twitched. So, I gave her a huge cheesy grin.

"No, I'm not single. I have someone very dear to me." I think I just felt my heart shatter into four million pieces.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I wasn't aware. I just thought..." She laughed her infectious laugh again and a small part of me, couldn't help, but to smile.

"You assumed right silly, the person is you, or it will be you." Wow, I did not deem her capable of cracking a very hurtful joke.

Scowling, I said, "Okay, next question, what are all your powers, Kai said you're like the most powerful being in the universe or something like that."

She sighed, "Well, let's see, I can control the weather, control fire, control electricity, turn into a dragon, telekinesis and well, the normal for super natural, super speed and strength."

She gently pushed my jaw back up. Then she unexpectedly became shy.

"I know it seems like a lot, well, yeah, it's a lot of responsibility, but ultimately, I am still learning how to control it, after all, it's only been 9 months since I first learned of my future and such."

"What? I thought you knew your whole life; I mean I would have assumed so."

"Nah, you haven't heard of what anyone has to overcome and go through to become a dragon, have you?"

"No, I always thought that dragons were just awesome mythical creatures."

"So you know of the basics of the supernatural, such as mermaids, vampires, werewolves, and witches, but not others such as dragons, nymphs, etc.?"

"Yea pretty much, I mean I'm the only human in this town that know even knows of the existence of the supernatural. Kai is like my brother, we grew up together and when he thought I was ready, he introduced me to a world I had only ever read about, but I don't think even he knew of the existence of dragons and other supernatural aside from the basics." I explained to her.

"Oh, well in order to unlock your powers to go from human to dragon, if you're from the right bloodline, you have to experience three life changing event or lose three of the most important things in your life. For me, I lost my family, my father, my mother, and my little brother. I lost my mother last, I took her out to eat and these people showed up in our little town at this little restaurant and killed my mother, I think they knew though, what would happen if they did, but they thought they would have more time take me, I guess, before my powers kicked in, and when they did, they did it with a bang, that was the first time I had ever killed anyone, let alone all of those men." Her voice was full of grief, and no one should have that kind of grief in their voice. It was heart-wrenching. I hesitantly wrapped my arm around her shoulders. It shocked me that she not only allowed me to, she also leaned her head into my embrace. I knew she could hear my heart beating faster. She turned her head, just a little, and placed a soft kiss where my heart was beating erratically in my chest. Then she looked up at me, with those deep emerald green eyes, eyes that had seen too much.

And at that moment, I realized why I was her mate. I was going to remove those scars from her heart and bring the life back into her beautiful eyes.

'You are not only her greatest strength, but her greatest weakness, those that seek her harm, will use any means to do so, including hurting you, but they are not aware, the last dragon is not one to anger, for she would watch the world burn with a smile.'

All the color drained from my face as a voice that was not my own whispered through my skull. I shivered and Rio asked me if I was okay.

"Yeah," I replied shakily, "I'm fine."
