Chapter 8 ~ Sleepless

[Third Person]

Kai didn't sleep a wink. He tried but constantly had thoughts bouncing around his head. What did he think of Hari? He was a patient. But did he feel differently towards him? Maybe it was just pity. No. He's felt pity towards others before and it never felt like this. This feeling was new.

Kai rolled onto his side and stared at the blank wall. He wondered what Hari was doing right now. Was he sleeping or having the same issues as Kai? Was he thinking about Kai? He quickly covered his face as he felt it warm up. Oh no, was he ill? This was not like any sickness he had ever come across before in his life. He rolled onto his back and stared up at the ceiling instead.

Maybe Google had the answer? After fumbling around on his bed side cabinet, he grabbed his phone and switched it on. He quickly looked away before he went blind and turned down the brightness. Google. He clicked on the familiar app and opened a new tab. After that he typed in "What does it mean if your face warms up when thinking about someone?". Of course it just came up with Yahoo answers and things but they may be able to help.

He clicked on Yahoo and skim read through the comments. All of them said similar things, making his heart drop. He couldn't honestly have a crush on Hari, right? That's what they were all saying. Kai sat up in bed and continued flicking through his phone, desperately looking for a different explanation. After not finding a single thing he sighed and chucked his phone on his bed side cabinet.

There weren't too many rules when it came to his job, just help the patient and if you broke any of the rules it was usually shrugged off. There was one rule in particular that they were very strict about. "Do not form any feelings towards your patient." It would get in the way of work and Kai could see what they meant. It was a fair rule but in his current situation, a very inconvenient one.

Maybe he could just try and ignore his feelings, bottle them up until they wither away. Right now that was his only option to be honest. He couldn't tell Hari about this because that would cost him his job and he was quite happy with how his life was going right now. For the time being he should probably just sleep on it and worry about it in the morning. Yeah.

Kai layed back down on his bed and tried to relax. He wouldn't deny that he was shattered and desperate for sleep. After trying to take his mind off things he actually began to slip away to the land of the dreams.
