Kai was so lost in his own head he barely noticed the knocking on his door. He had gotten barely any work done by this point and had just been organising and reorganizing his bookshelf. The knocking became more violent, loud enough to jolt Kai from his thoughts and bring him back to the real world.
"Oh- come in." He quickly sat up and moved the papers from in front of him. The door opened and Joi peaked in, smiling and tapping his fingers.
"You didn't seriously forget I was coming to eat lunch with you, did ya? Usually you fuss over things like that."

Kai looked over at the clock and noticed it was half twelve, lunch time for many doctors here.
"Oh sorry, I was just thinking about things." Kai kicked out his bag from under his desk and pulled out a small tupperware pot, placing it on his desk. Joi smirked at him before closing the door and walking over to his desk, sitting in the seat in front of him.
"Thinking about something other than me? I'm offended. Or were you thinking about how neat your office is or something?" Kai chucked a cloth a Joi and shrugged.
"Something like that. Put that down under your food so you don't get my desk dirty." Joi scoffed but did as he said, glancing around at the forever tidy office of his friend.

They sat in silence for a few minutes, both focussing on their food rather than the other person until Joi finally spoke up.
"How have ya been lately? Work treating ya well?" Joi looked up at Kai who paused for a second and furrowed his brows.
"It's been... eventful. But it's not important. Overall I haven't been too bad. You?" Kai didn't want to risk telling Joi about Hari. He trusted him not to snitch but he didn't trust him not to accidentally tell someone. He was somewhat of a loud-mouth.
"Eh, stressed as always. I swear Setsuno is never gonna fuckin learn. He's too broken for anyone to fix. Poor guy." Joi pouted before continuing to eat. Kai watched him for a moment, letting that name ring in his head. Setsuno... Oh yeah.

Setsuno was brought in after attempting suicide by jumping off a building. He was lucky to survive but is still miserable. Can't get over his cheating ex-wife or something, Kai wasn't all too sure. He wasn't his patient after all. Kai sighed and continued to eat.
"So, what are you going to do about him? You can't exactly just give up." Joi looked back over at Kai before staring up at the ceiling and shrugging his shoulders.
"Honestly, no fuckin clue. Just gonna keep doing what I'm doing and hope to god he seems sane enough to be let out of here." Joi slit his eyes at the ceiling before looking back down and continuing his lunch. Kai had already finished and was now just waiting for Joi to finish and leave him alone.
"What you're doing now clearly isn't working, why not take a new approach?"

Joi groaned and rolled his eyes.
"I came here to talk to you, not get lectured on how to do my job. I'm sure Setsuno will get over his wife at some point and be able to live his life without her. Hopefully. But that's not important." He finished his lunch and quickly put the empty pot in his bag, leaning back up and pointing at Kai. Kai stared at his finger and raised an eyebrow. "Got your eyes on anyone?" Kai glared at him and nodded.
"I have my eyes on you." He responded coldly but Joi just laughed and let his hand drop to his side.
"No dipshit. I mean you see any ladies ya like?" Kai inhaled sharply as his mind immediately went to Hari but he just shook his head.

"This isn't important to anything but if you must know, then no." Joi pouted at him before rolling his eyes.
"God, stop being such a saddo and find someone to like. You're basically dating your job at this point, it's weird." Kai chuckled slightly at the irony of Joi's statement. Hari was kind of his job in a way, so he could say he was with his job.
"I'm not interested in things like that. They seem a waste of time and effort. I don't want to risk ending up like Setsuno." Joi rolled his eyes at him before checking the time.
"I've gotta go in a few. But seriously dude, start looking for a nice woman to settle down with. Unless you're gay. Are you gay?" Kai felt his face heat up but he just shook his head again.
"No. But if you have to go, then please do leave." Joi stared at him and nodded, grabbing his bag and slinging it over his shoulder.
"Don't worry, I won't judge you for being gay. Well then Kai, I hope you find a nice guy to settle down with." Joi stuck his tongue out at Kai before walking towards the door.
"I'm not-" but before Kai could finish his sentence, Joi had already left the room. Great. That was the last thing he needed.
