I've starting being a CIT at camp again, and I've met the sweetest, and most pure-hearted child ever!!!
I was telling her a story (In brief summary, I shouted at a couple guys that I my gender was pineapple.) And she said, "You're not a girl, you're not a boy, you are a pineapple." I clarified to her that I was joking around and that I was a girl, but then she told me about her friend.
(Right now, I'm just going to say I'm going to call the pure-hearted child Chamomile, and I'm going to call her friend Pop)
Chamomile told me that her friend didn't like he or she pronouns, and preferred they/them pronouns. I was shocked, and delighted! Pop was non-binary (I assume), and Chamomile totally accepted it!
Earlier that day, we saw a stand that was helping support the LGBTQ+ community, and I explained to Chamomile that the people running the stand were helping people like Pop get accepted. (P.S/Edit: When we passed up the stand, she saw a rainbow flag and told me that she wanted one)
Then get this! Chamomile told me a story about how she stood up for Pop when some other mean girls were saying that Pop was a girl. I'm so fricken' proud of her!!!
Chamomile is my favorite child in camp, even though that there's someone who likes Hamilton, someone who does computer programming like me, and someone who went to the same middle school as me--
Chamomile is my absolute favorite!
