The girl sat, crying on the floor, not knowing what to do. He's gonna leave me, she thought while staring through her tears at the positive pregnancy test she held in her hands. She and Edwin had never planned on starting a family this early. Honestly, the thought scared her. The thought of having so much responsibility that she didn't know if she could handle. She is only 19 going on 20. The girl didn't know who she was. She could barely take care of herself. How was she supposed to take of another human being and raise them the right way. She wanted a child so badly, but what scared her was that she might not be ready.
The girl got so lost in her thoughts that she didn't even hear Edwin open the bathroom door. "Ev? Baby what's wrong?" He said hurriedly walking to her, sitting on the floor, and embracing her in a hug. She wrapped her arms around him tightly because quite frankly she was afraid that he was going to disappear. The pregnancy test fell from her hands and she buried her face in her boyfriend's baggy hoodie. She still held onto him while he picked up the test. His eyes widened once he realized what it was. "Babe are you pregnant?" He asked. Once she realized that the test had fallen from her hands, she stood in horror.
"Oh shit" she said as she looked at her shocked boyfriend. "Shit! shit! shit!" She said as she sat on the counter and began sobbing. How could she be so stupid. How could she not be careful with such valuable information. How could she not hold onto the one thing that could make or break their relationship. "I-I promise I was gonna tell you I just didn't know how and I didn't want you to leave me and I just thought-" he stood up and cut her off with a long passionate kiss. He embraced her as she began sobbing again. He rubbed her back and kissed her forehead. She took a deep breath and looked her amazing boyfriend in the he eyes. "I just really don't wanna lose you."
She said and he gave her sympathetic look. "Ever - Renée Grace McCoy, you could never get rid of me even if you wanted to. I love you more than anything in this world." He paused and looked her in the eyes. "Yeah, we're a little young to have a kid, I admit. But that's what we get for not using protection." He said causing Ever to giggle a little. "Though we weren't planning this, it would be one of the best things to happen to us. We may not be the most responsible parents but I will try my best to change for the benefit of my child. I will love him or her through thick and thin. And I will be with you the entire time." She smiled at him.
"Remember in 8th grade when you thought the world was gonna end? Who stuck by you and comforted you? Who was there with you to open your test scores when you thought you were gonna fail? Who was your Junior prom date when no one else wanted to go with you? Amd who did you end up taking to senior prom because you enjoyed junior prom so much? You see all the things we've gone through? From New York when you were 5 and I was 6, to now when you're 19 and I'm 20. It's always been us. And it always will be us. Raising this child and for the rest of our lives."
By the end of Edwin's speech, Ever was in tears. She hugged him so tight. "I love you Edwin Joel. I can't wait to have a family with you." She said. "I love you too Ev. I can't wait either. Besides, the boys and their girlfriends will help us out if we're terrible parents." He said making Ever - Renée giggle again. "Oh please. We both know Maggie and Ansley would be the only helpful ones." "Hey, Zion can be pretty helpful." Edwin said in a joking defensive tone making them both laugh. They pulled each other into another into another tight hug and spent the rest of the night talking about their future. Ever - Renée truly believed she'd found the love of her life.
