i've never written for Lena having a younger sister and i live for it
Being the youngest Luthor was... tough, to say the least. Being a teenager in high school only made it worse. Well, you weren't exactly in high school, you graduated three years early thanks to Lillian.
That didn't make it any easier, though. Despite being under almost constant watch, you still seemed to have a kidnapping every once in a while.
The worst part was when Lena was put in danger. She was the only family you had left, and she kept you sane, you in turn did the same for her.
So there you were in Alex's apartment, waiting for Lena to get back to you.
You were never told what happened. Kara wouldn't tell you and Lena didn't want you to worry, but of course, not knowing only made you worry more.
Lena had been kidnapped again, and it had been a bit more than a day since the last time you'd seen her.
Whenever something like this happened, you lived with Alex, who always welcomed you with open arms and did everything she could to help you feel better.
Lena was supposed to be on her way now. You knew she was alive, but you didn't know the condition of her mental or physical state. You worried about her since the moment she disappeared, your big sister meant more to you than anything in the world.
When Lena and Kara finally arrived at Alex's apartment, you ran to Lena and felt a bit of weight lift of you when she appeared to be unscathed, "Are you hurt?"
Lena didn't answer, she simply pulled you in her arms and embraced you as tightly as she could without hurting you.
The two of you stood holding each other tightly for a few minutes before she backed away a bit and placed her hands at either of your arms, "I'm okay, they didn't touch me, (y/n/n)."
"Oh, thank god," you let out a breath and hugged her again before the two of you moved to sit with Kara and Alex.
"Will you tell me what happened tomorrow?" You asked quietly, waiting for her to give you a small nod in response before you leaned into the protective arm she had around you.
The two of you being overly touchy was normal, especially when one of the two of you were recently put in danger.
At first you weren't used to it because you'd lived with Lillian alone for so long, since Lex was in jail and Lena was living in a different city, but when Lillian lost custody of you and was sent to prison, but everything changed and you moved in with Lena.
"Do you think you'll be alright to drive home, Lena?" Alex asked from her seat across from the two of you.
"I'll call a driver for us."
"No," Kara shook her head. "Alex and I will drive you guys home and walk you to the door."
"Kara," Before Lena could protest, you interrupted her.
"Thank you guys, honestly. I think that's a great idea," You smiled softly and Lena gave you a look, but you challenged it with a raised eyebrow, which told Lena that you knew you were right, and she knew it too, because she held you just a little tighter against her and kissed the top of your head.
"You guys are right, I think that's a great idea."
"Thank you, Lee," You said softly, grateful she didn't argue you guys on it, even though you knew she was only doing it to give you peace of mind.
"Anything for you, (y/n/n)," Lena rubbed your arm gently and after a few minutes of light chatter between the four of you, you were in Alex's car on the way to Lena's penthouse.
Alex drove, Kara sat beside her in the passenger seat, and you sat next to Lena in the backseat with your head buried in her neck and her arm around your waist.
The drive was silent but it felt lengthy, even though it wasn't. You felt the rise and fall of Lena's chest and the pad of her thumb rubbing circles at your waist to comfort you. You listened to her soft breath and the noise of the car. You smelled the shampoo she always used that smelled fruity and comforting.
At the door to Lena's apartment, you and your big sister hugged Kara and Alex goodbye and thanked them for everything they'd done.
There was an odd energy in the room. Neither of you were feeling very talkative but you'd missed each other so much.
"I showered while I was at Alex's, so I'll let you shower while I get ready for bed."
Lena nodded in agreement and grabbed herself a glass of water before kissing you on the top of your head and making her way to her bedroom, leaving you to start ready for bed.
You were much slower than usual, feeling a sort of emptiness in your chest.
Your breath stuttered when you let your mind wander to what could've happened to Lena.
After a few minutes, you heard Lena exit the shower and enter her bedroom, which was right across from yours.
You sighed and changed into Lena's old college hoodie and a pair of shorts before sitting at your desk, not feeling like sleeping.
You drummed your fingers on the surface absentmindedly and looked out the window, looking at the tall buildings surrounding the one you were in.
You stayed looking out the window for a long time, letting your mind go where it wanted and trying your hardest to avoid negative thoughts, but it wasn't exactly working.
You felt your tears well up and fall down your face but ignored them, focusing on the stars that managed to shine bright enough to outshine the lights of the city.
Lena noticed your door was open and went to close it thinking you were asleep but paused at the doorway and looked inside when she realized you weren't in your bed.
She watched for a moment or two as you stared up at the stars that seemed so close but far away all at the same time before calling your name softly, "(Y/n)?"
You sniffled and brushed away your tears before turning around in your chair and offering a smile, "Yeah?"
Lena's face fell and she walked to your side before kneeling down in front of you and taking your hands in her own, "You okay, honey?"
You nodded, "Just afraid. I know, it's stupid -"
"No," Lena stopped you. "It's not stupid. Your feelings are totally valid, so never let anyone tell you otherwise ever again."
"Thank you."
"I'm afraid too," Lena's eyes started to water but she managed to blink away the tears that wanted to spill.
You sniffled softly and squeezed her hands, "I can't lose you, Lee."
Lena shook her head and got off her knees, pulling you into her arms, "You will never lose me, (y/n/n). No matter how many people try to separate us or harm us I will always protect you and I will kick anyone's ass who tries to get in my way."
"It's not me I'm worried about, it's you," You mumbled.
"I get that, but I'm a tough cookie and my best friends are Supergirl, the most badass federal agent around, her cop girlfriend, a genius hacker, the smartest person on our Earth, a vigilante, an alien that's survived hundreds of years, and a girl who can see the future in her dreams. We have so many people around us who love us and will fight for us to no end, okay? Nothing is going to happen to us, we're okay," Lena pulled away so she could look you in the eyes and you smiled softly to her when she finished talking, which made her smile in return.
"I love you so much, Lena. You're the best big sister in the whole world."
Lena tucked your hair behind your ear, "I love you too, (y/n). You're the best thing that's ever happened to me."
