It was finally time for the gala and Lena walked in with you on her arm. She was so overjoyed that you'd finally agreed to come with her to the gala, even if it took a bit of convincing.
She'd decided that you should wear the same color as her, it was more for fun, but you thought it was cute how Lena liked to match with you.
At the start of the gala, you were really nervous, but after a bit of adjusting, you got the feel for it and Lena could tell you were feeling more confident. Every so often, Lena would press a kiss to your cheek or do something touchy, but you were always by her side, and it didn't seem like she wanted you to stray too far anyway.
You caught her glaring at some of the men who were staring at you a few times, it made you laugh a bit, seeing her jealous like that, but when you'd catch her she would kiss you lovingly to take your attention away, and hopefully bother the watchful eyes on the you.
You were happy when you found out that Kara and Alex were attending the gala, it gave you and Lena a good twenty minutes or so to talk to them freely about non-business related things. Besides, you were happy to see your friends, and they knew how nervous you'd been about going to the gala, so they were proud of you for deciding to go.
Announcing your relationship with Lena was hard for you guys to do initially, it put you on blast and Lena felt awful about the amount of overwhelming press you'd gotten. The two of you worked through it together and after a few weeks, there was barely any news about your relationship. Sure, new things came up every once in a while, but nothing bad.
The only time you had to leave her side was when she gave her speech, but you stood near the stage, as she'd asked you to, so she could come back to you when she was finished.
Throughout her speech, she shot you glances and small smiles, making your heart flutter.
Once she was done with her speech, you cheered her name loudly and clapped, smiling wildly.
"You were fantastic, my love," You grinned and gave her a tight hug.
Lena smiled back and kissed you, "Thank you, baby. I couldn't have done it without your support."
By the end of the night, you and Lena had made your rounds, talking to everyone who'd attended the event.
It wasn't as stressful as you had thought it would be. Socializing might've been annoying, but you got to spend a lot of time with your favorite person, and it was worth it.
Maybe you hadn't wanted to go to the gala, but you were really glad you let Lena convince you to go.
