"hey bug, you sure you wanna watch this? i watched this movie when i was a kid and it scared the living daylights out of me."
you plopped down on the couch next to melissa, looking at the back of the DVD case of the classic movie Carrie. "i'll be fine. it's not like i'm gonna have nightmares or something.
nearing the end of the movie, sue went to put the flowers on carrie's grave. when carrie's hand jumped out from underground, mel shrieked, making you jump up as well.
"okay, that's enough." you turned off the television, making the whole living room go black. "can you turn on the light, please?" she sniffed.
you flicked on the lamp next to you, dimming the room a little. "aww, bub, i told you we could watch something else." you frowned, brushing the tears from her face.
"can we go up to bed?" "of course, love. come here." you scooped her up in your arms, making your way up the stairs. she curled her head into your warm chest and sighed contentedly.
before you knew it, you and mel were cuddled in bed together. "i'm sorry i messed up the movie for you y/n/n, i'm such a wuss." she pouted.
"you're not a wuss, you're a cutie." you tapped her nose, making her pout go away and a smile appear. "it's okay baby, it's not real." you spooned her, wrapping your arm around her.
"i love you." she whispered. "love you more." you kissed the back of her head, the both of you drifting off to sleep.
