You jumped up and down. This was going to be great. You were kind of surprised that Jake had said yes. He wasn't a confident dancer, but you loved partner dancing. You were too excited for Jake to say no to attending a dance class. He loved making you happy and was willing to look like a fool in the process. You watched as Jake put his shoes on. This was going to be great. Jake looked up at you and smiled, seeing the excitement on your face you returned his smile and walked over to him. You wrapped him in a hug as he stood and set about grabbing everything you guys would need for this dance class. You opened the door and looked back at Jake, waiting for him to be ready. He put his hat and sunglasses on before looking back and meeting your gaze. You smiled at him again.

"Ready to go?" You bounced as you asked. Jake smiled.

"Yup, lets go!" Jake walked over to you and grabbed the door that was behind you, closing it as you walked out together. Jake put his hand on your back as you walked down the steps to the street. You got in the car together and you searched Jake's face. You were really hoping he was excited about this, but you didn't want to make him uncomfortable or upset that he has to do this.

"Are you sure you want to do this? I don't want to make you do anything that you don't want to." You grabbed Jake's hand and looked at his eyes. You wanted to make sure he knew you weren't trying to manipulate him.

"Honey, I know how happy this makes you and I want you to be happy. Dancing with you will be fun. That is what I am excited about." Jake smiled at you and squeezed your hand.

Your shoulders released slightly. You were glad he wanted to do this.

"What styles of dancing are we going to learn?" Jake asked. You scrunched your face up, trying to remember what the website said.

"I don't remember, but I think its swing dancing and jitterbug. Maybe even Lindy Hop." You said looking from Jake to the windshield of the car. You thought that you were getting close. You scanned the street. Jake hummed as he considered what you had said and then as he watched you get excited. You didn't notice but he liked to keep it that way. As you got closer, you began to get more nervous. You hoped you remembered the dance classes you had taken and all the dancing you had done in high school

You looked back at Jake and smiled nervously.

"You ok, hon?" Jake rubbed the back of your hand, "Are you sure you want to do this?" He looked concerned but was ready to be supportive of your passions.

Your smile faded. You needed to be sure. You reminded yourself of how fun it was and decided to at least give it a go once.

"Yeah. I like this. I know had to do this." You said to Jake, but it was more to reassure yourself. You found the studio as you turned back to the window. You squealed and pointed which made Jake laugh.

The driver pulled over and you both climbed out of the car. Jake opened the door to the studio for you and you quickly hustled in. You had made sure you were early and talked to the instructor before you started. Jake and you took a position near the back for some privacy but as the other couples streamed in, it didn't seem to matter. The teacher had to call some of the ladies away from Jake. It made you a little jealous but you held onto the fact that you were going home with him.

"Alright class! As you guys have already seen, we have a new couple in class and we are going to help keep the class normal" the teacher started. You had already forgot her name. One of your downfalls was forgetting names in 0.5 seconds.

The dance for this class was the jitterbug. You had learned it before and helped Jake to be light on his feet. He surprised himself with his dancing skills, but you knew he had it in him. You can't do choreographed fight scenes without remembering steps. That's all dancing was.

A couple times you caught Jake staring at you, at which point he stopped moving his feet. That was a problem for you both. The rock step became easy for you two as you found your rhythm. Then the instructor threw in spins.

"Slowly, Jake." You instructed, "Then I spin under and rock step then back under and back to the beginning. Easy." Jake scoffed slightly at your determination of difficulty. As he sped it up, his forearm hit your forehead, nearly knocking you over. This sent you both into hysterical laughter after seeing the red mark on your head.

"Is everything ok over here? Do you guys need some help?" The instructor came over as you tried to catch your breath. Jake wiped tears from his eyes and was the first to respond.

"I think we have the steps down, but we just need some practice." He laughed slightly, looking at you with a hand on your forehead. The instructor looked between you guys and smiled slightly before nodding and walking off to help a poor rhythm challenged couple across the room.

You turned to Jake nearly laughing just looking at him. "Should we try it again?" He laughed and you covered his mouth jokingly. He wrapped his arm around you and pushed your hand away, stealing a kiss.

"Please. I have to get this" Jake smiled at you and pulled back into the dance hold. You smiled as you both caught the time of the music. He pushed your side slightly and you moved with him. So far so good. The spin was a bit slow, but no near decapitations made it a success. You held onto Jake to keep him from celebrating.

"Let's make sure it's not a fluke" You teased, and Jake lowered his gaze as he held his laughter in. Once you had spun two more times Jake wrapped his arms around your waist and picked up you, spinning around.

"We did it!" You laughed as he spun you. Once he set you down, it was your turn to steal a kiss. It would have been deeper had the other couples not been in the room.

The last trick was a dip. Jake looked at you with the most serious face he could muster.

"Ma'am, do you trust me not to drop you?" He set his face and stared you down.

"Sir, I most definitely do not but the risk is part of the fun" You stared back and winked before trying the move slowly together. He held tight and smirked before pulling you back to your feet. A few more dips at full speed proved his strong arms were good for dancing too. You were all grins and loved every minute of it. You remembered why you loved dancing. And why you loved Jake.

"Thank you all for coming to today's lesson. Remember next week we are learning swing dancing" The instructor said before she released the class. You turned to Jake. That was your favorite dance. Tugging on him arm slightly, he understood that he should probably put that on his calendar.

You walked to the lobby and waited for the car to come around waving as the other couples left. Getting in the car, you noticed Jake looked slightly upset and you didn't know why. Once you were alone you leaned towards him and caught his eye.

"Jake?"

"Do you really not trust me?"

"Jake! I was acting." You added a flourish of your hands which made him smile. "I trust you with my life" He knew the sincerity of your voice and his smile widened.

"We better practice at home." Jake said as your smile grew.

This had been one of your better ideas.
