CHAPTER ONE
"UWAAAAH!"You smiled softly as you hugged the weeping child. He still continued to sob as laid his face on your jacket, soaking your chest with his tears. "Oaka..it's going to be ok." you cooed in his ear. Beside you, was his concerned mother, who was rubbing his back soothingly trying to calm down her son. "Honey, she has to catch her train."
Osaka still continued to sob. He sniffled loudly, "I-I-I don't wa-want you to go, Nee-san!"
You pulled closer to your body, engulfing him in your warmth. "I don't want to either," you replied, "But I have to help other people, it's my job as a wizard."
"Then, just stop being a wizard and live with us!"
You shook your head playfully hearing his response, making him stutter out, "Yeah, yeah! You co-could live with us and pl-play with us all day, like our big sister!"
Osaka's mother sighed at her son's action, "Oaka, you can't just decide somebody's future like that or make them stop doing what they love." Before Osaka could protest, you quickly intervened. "Your mother's right, I want to do this and people like you and your village. You have to understand that."
Osaka looked down, tears starting to swell in his eyes. "You'll visit again, won't you?" he muttered.
"Of course," you uttered with a small nod. This seemed to lift his spirits because he gave you one last hug that was tighter than the other one. Many in this village saw you as a hero due to you saving them from the reign of a dark guild. Saying it was a simple task would be a lie, but you and your trusted partner manged to dispel the guild's men, giving the villagers back their freedom. Though, your "trusted" partner wasn't with you currently.
"No, no, no, narrator! I'm right here!" Up in the trees, was the little canary herself. "I am not little!" she irks.
Uyeda is a peculiar wizard, to say the least. Her name is supposedly squeaky clean on record simple stated to be a helper for the magic councils, specifically under your command. Most people don't believe what the records due to her sadistic demeanor and twisted motives.
"Let's skip the formalities of my time," Uyeda said with her signature seductive smile. She pushed a strand of her silky black hair back her ears, laying back on the tree branch underneath her. "Let's continue with this delicious scene why don't we?"
How is it delicious?
"Cause the kid's salty tears makes me chortle." Uyeda then cleared her throat loudly from her branch, grabbing the attention of the townsfolk and yourself. She hit her chest, coughing a bit. "My voice isn't as good as it used to be isn't it, nevertheless! Mistress, we need to be heading out, I can hear the train in the distance."
"Is that so?" you turn to Osaka. "I have to go now, little one."
Oaka sniffled one last time before letting you go. He along with the villagers accompanied you to the train station where they gave you a proper farewell. Tears welled up in your eyes as you and Uyeda boarded the train. Even when the train set off, your eyes never left Osaka's figure. You waved goodbye until you couldn't see the townsfolk any more. Your heart ached in pain, Even when you save you the day...in the end, this feeling is always so bittersweet.
